The Difference between Men and Boys...

Is the price of their toys....

The King is in his glory. He has been saving up for
this for over a year. He picked it up Thursday.
Then we had to go out of town Friday and Saturday.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday, I only saw him for
about 15 minutes. He was in the boat... He has spent
a little bit each night. But the frustrating part is he wants
to do so much more...but we are leaving for 10 days.

So I am sure he has made a mental list of to do things, for
when we get home.

So as of Friday, really really early am... we will head across the
states to Wisconsin. Leaving behind the computer. So no emails,
no blog writing or reading... just the King, the dog, and I.

So you all behave yourselves.... God willing and the creek don't
rise, we will be there and back in 10 days.

Everything is ..........fault

Fill in the blank... everything is my
father's fault... or my mother's fault.
Which is what you hear young adults
and some times mid-life adults say.

The truth of the matter is...
everything that happens to you
between the ages of 0 to 18 is
yours and your parents fault.

Everything that happens from 18 to
now, is your fault.
You are in the drivers seat and have
been since you got out of high school.

It is not your parents duty to make you
happy after you turn 18. It is your duty.
If they want to help you, that is ok, but
it is NOT their duty.

They don't OWE you anything. It is up to
you to go out and make something of your
self, for you to make yourself happy.

What you become is what you made of
yourself. I have many children as you can
see...but I am here to tell you... I might have
laid out the foundation on my children.. but
what they have become is what they chose,
and did for themselves and deserve all the
credit.

Too bad we all can't have the same attitude
with the government.

Some times life is too weird....

I saw a story about a new drink that is out
called Relax. (you can't make these things up)
and it is suppose to relax you for a half of hour
or so. But as the guy who was questioned about
it said, it was like a placebo. He didn't feel anything.

What I thought was weird about this... was it
is marketed for relaxing.. when you can't on your
own..
Like Red Bull is for those time when you need a
extra boost of energy.

Am I the only one who see a parallel with drugs?
You know...uppers and downers?

Well,the Jig is Up...

Seems the city of Spokane has seen a new way to
get more money. That is taxing the vendors who sell
at the local Farmer's Market that happens to be on
church property. In their parking lot.

When this hits, you can bet other towns will follow,
and of course, drift across the state line to Idaho.

I realize that some of these people who sell their
veggie, fruit and etc. it is a business for them. But
there is also some little old ladies or men who grows
extra stuff in their gardens and take it down to the
Farmer's Market to make pocket change. Well, that
will have to stop. As they don't make enough to pay
the taxes on it.

Who collects it? Do they have an envelope they mail off?
And are Yard Sales close behind in the tax venue?

Verizon, you make me laugh....

I am sure a lot of you have gotten the ad in the mail like this. But it always makes
me laugh...

First of all, see the GUARANTEED TO NEVER GO UP
can you read the small print? Well, after the part
about $29.99 a month, you will read the tiny print that
says: w/-2yr agreement speeds up to 3 Mbps. So does
that mean NEVER is only for 2 years?
But it gets better.. see this one with the price of $17.99
which looks just like the paper ad I got in the mail? Well,
that was on their site when I went to check to see if it was
even available here. (So the paper ad gives you a price
that is $12 more than what they could give you, if you went on
line.)

Then there is the tiny print on the back of the paper ad from the
mail. really got to watch this stuff.... I separated this as they
had it all running together
...

Customer Respect Group's 2009 Customer Service Study of Telecommunications
Website. ???

Offer for new residential HSI customers w/VZ voice service. subject to
credit review. (HSI high speed internet)

$99 early termination fee.
One time charges of up to $60. (where was that listed and for what)
Price Guarantee applies to base internet rate excluding taxes and surcharges.
So those can go up, right? so much for NEVER GO UP
Changes to service plan or VZ discontinuation of high speed internet to your
location cancels offer. (so much for NEVER GO UP)
Add'l chrges, taxes and terms apply. that isn't listed in the ad..Service availability (see below) and speeds may vary.
did you see that where they had the price listed? not even an * to say
look on back page...
HSI will provisioned at up to 1.5Mbps or up to 3 Mbps based on VZ line
now the front ad with the price says up to 3, but doesn't say as low
as 1.5Mbps
.
qualification requirements. Valid 6/21/09 to 9/30/09. 2009 Verizon.

And finally, up above says....Service availability ...that is why I went
to their site. See I have been getting something like this for years about

fast speed internet... and every time I have checked... well, they never heard of
Kootenai the town, so it is never availability. Even when I
checked today.

So here it is, price will NEVER go up, yet it is only good for the 2 years.
AND...it isn't even available. Now they have to send this add to my house,
so you would think they would NOT send to my zip code as we can't get it
from here.

YES, Verizon, you make me laugh...oh, the other thing, I have had 4
friends who had Verizon Internet in the past... all 4 of them dumped it
with in a month. Now where did I put the paper shredder?
Guess they better stick with their phone business, they do pretty well
there...

Do we really know what we are doing?

The people are jumping on the bandwagon.
The cash for clunkers. So many doing the
trade in... some are a little disappointed, but
others thrilled.

Those who are a little disappointed are the ones
who thought they would get a trade in as well as
the government's cash for their clunkers. Being these
vehicles can't be sold, there is no trade in value.

Their idea of clunkers and mine sure is different.
Cadillac's, SUV's and etc. better than any car
I have owned.

I have seen on the news some of the ones that
are heading for the junk yard in Spokane. I had hoped
the parts would be used and not smashed. I know they
are seizing up the engines so they never will run again.
But will they totally smash the car.. The answer I have
been told is yes. They are turned in to 5"x5" squares.

So I have to ask, do we know what we are doing? There
will be few and far between, used cars for those without
money to buy new.

We already ran into that point two years ago, of not being
able to buy a box for a truck my grandson owned. Why?
because the price of metal was out of sight. And the yards
were smashing cars as fast as they could get them in.
Meaning anything older than 2003 was gone. So no parts.

What will happen to those of us in the $20,000 or less income
bracket who won't be able to buy a used car or truck?

I guess my signature at the end of my emails serves me well.

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things
which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.

Where does it say, killing granny????

I am truly sorry for such a long post today. But I feel
it is important. There are some of you out there who
has gotten the scare tactic email... either says Obama
trying to kill Granny, or look at page 425, Obama
killing off the elderly. So here you are, page 425 for
you to read for yourself.... and tell me where it says it
is going to kill anyone. Then go the bottom and see
what it means in common language. If the governement
one gets to be too much for you.. scroll down to the
lower part and I will tell you what it means.

This only means IF you want to talk to your doctor about advance care planning...Medicare will pay for one session with your Dr.
Every 5 years... Which by the way, you are charged for it right now....
anyone who has worked in the health voc. like myself.... would have telling
you to do this... I did it years ago.. about 10 years ago, I have a living will written... I sent a copy to my kids and said if you have any problems with this...let's talk about it now... not fighting with your siblings while I am half dead in a bed, that I don't want to be in anymore. None of them wrote back... some of them did mention to me on the phone they did not have a problem with this. My doctor has a copy of it...

So yes, YOU SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT IT NOW.. I don't care if you are
only 31 years old... Look what happen to Terri S. in Florida...
heck the whole nation got in on that one... So..
those who are reading the scare emails about how they want to kill granny....
it is based on lies... and this is what it says...
NOT YOU HAVE TO.. but YOU CAN.. IF YOU CHOSE... to talk to your doc.
and Medicare will pay for it..if you are 65, otherwise it is
you paying for it. Or you can go to the local stationary/office
supply store and pay $6.50 like I did.. and fill in the blanks yourself.
I don't know about you..but I sure don't want the hospital getting rich
off of my body... by testing it for everything they can think of...
I want to control ..... I don't want to be laying in bed for 5 years
on a tube feeding, not knowing anyone.

So chose for yourself... put on your big boy/girl pants and
take care of business and stop listen to every yahoo
who tries to tell you about the boogie man coming.

Where are they now???

Now that there is pipl, people search and so many others...out there,
have you Googled or Binged or any of the other searches to find some
one, who you have lost track of over the years?

I tried over the weekend to find such a person. We were foster sisters.
My parents took her in for a short time. She wasn't getting along
with her foster parents and we had been friends for about 3 years.
Many of years of pretending so many things. Pretending we were
putting on a show for which we collected a nickel, only to have to
give it back to the complainers. lol... We protected the neighborhood,
with our special badges and we even had the old school guard type
thing that we put on. It was a white sash that went around your
waist and over your shoulder and held together by the badge.
It was all pretend.

I think Gloria was 14 when she came to our house. My folks had to
go thru all kinds of stuff to get her. Talks with our minister, fire
dept. came to the house to check it out, and police report. But
finally she moved in. She and Mom got along fabulously. They had
art and horses in common. They were best friends. And I became
the "middle child".

The middle child gets blamed for everything. The middle child is
just the right age. See the older child would never do xxxx because
they were too old to do such things. Too mature... And of course the
baby of the family, well, they would never dream of doing such a thing
and would be too small. So the MIDDLE CHILD did it. No matter what
it was. So I was not in the best of favor for a while. That is when I
became mostly a Daddy's girl. He was my protector.

But then Gloria came up with a dandy idea. I was a freshman in high
school and she was in the 10th grade. And she said we could have lots
of fun, skipping school. It went great. We went fishing. (we borrowed
a boat), it went so well, we skipped the next day. And the next...
THEN THE BOOM CAME.. As I was sitting there innocently eating
my breakfast, my mother asked how school had been the past couple
days. I keep my head down, as my face reads like a truth machine.
Fine, I said. That open the door to the tornado called mom. I won't
bored you with the details, but the long and short of it, I became
friends with the strap, I was grounded for the rest of my life, and
Gloria was gone. Which was sad.

So over the weekend, I decided to find my friend, as there were some
great times between those years. So I printed in her name time after
time. I tried her maiden name, as I didn't know her married name.
She had gotten married in Texas, and then divorced. And then moved
to New York. Mom had gotten a letter from her, as she was wanting
to know where I lived. But Mom decided for me, that no good would
come from this... so she waited a few years to tell me.. of course the
letter was gone.

So here we are in the land of computers, where they say you can
find just about anyone. So I printed in her name. Gloria L. Rich.
born in Chepachet, R.I. in November of 1938 or 39. I think she
was just 6 months older than I. Because it seem like I was the same
age as she was for a few months. So that would make it 1939. Just
not positive... so used both years... but nothing came up. There are
zillions of Gloria Rich's but not with the L. The couple that did have the
L were not from New York or R.I. or Texas and not her age.

You know for $40 I could have looked up more... but I am a cheap skate.
And besides I don't trust those sites anyway. So..Gloria L. Rich who was
born in Chepachet, R. I. if you find this blog before I die.. let me know. I
will be able to tell you what town you lived in Texas, and you can tell me
what your youngest sister's name is. I lost contact with her, when she
married and went to Germany with her husband. Also you can tell me
the name of the old foster parents that your sister stayed with. As I know
the answers to these questions..

Maybe if I couldn't find you, you can find me...

Have you ever wonder what happen to a friend from your childhood?
