I AM TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT….

I AM TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT….

We bought a new refrigerator, which is suppose to be delivered on Thursday…  We decided to move the old one out to the garage as an extra one for summer pop and etc.. and Thanksgiving dinner making extra space.

So we got up bright an early  yesterday to do just that.

I guess it was wearing on me, more than I thought, as I woke at 4am…and couldn’t go to sleep. So I got up.. Usually I get up at 7am.

At about 7am, we got started. Took stuff off of the top the night before.. But had some totes that I put the food in and cooler for the freezer stuff.  Dragged them around the corner in the kitchen to give us room to remove the refrigerator.  All that went fairly well.

We had to take the refrig out the door (luckily we have double doors) and across the deck and then the tricky part of down the 3 steps to the walk way, thru the gate and into the garage. Sounded simple enough. My job was to keep the refrig and dolly going down each step slowly and not take off.  That went well, Then the King decided while in the laying position, it would be good to vacuum the back and bottom. Then it was time to raise the dolly and refrig. Not quite as easy as it sounds.  Did manage to raise it as I keep it from taking off… and thru the gate it went and into the garage, get it position into the area we wanted. Plug in.

Then it was clean up time.. 5 years of sitting in one place. But to our horror we discovered that the cabinet next to it had rot in the base. So that open a whole new ball game.

Removing stuff from the top of the cabinet… coffee maker, microwave and etc.  Remove all the stuff inside of the cabinet… pans, rolls of wax paper, alumimum and cling wrap… lots of them. Boxes and boxes of them.

Then unscrew the cabinet from the wall.. and out to the deck.  The King cut and replace a base to it, while I washed parts to the refrig.  And then put it all back in and replace all of the food in the freezer and etc.  About a 2 hour project.

The King got the base done, while I scrubbed the floor where the refrig and cabinet were. (10 years for the cabinet).

We put the cabinet back. The King measure the area for the new refrig. And the lower cabinet was great… but the top one was very close.  So now we have to remove them and move them over. We have 2 inches to do so. Long story short, we found out after removing everything, unscrewing the cabinet that now refused to move.. we did NOT have to move the cabinet.  So the King put it all back together.. I looked and saw it was slanted.. slanted badly.. The King was so fed up with it all, he was going to leave it. I told him no way.. and I would point it out to all of his friends.  So he decided to use the level and sure enough (like my eyes were not good enough) it was way out of line.  After much cussing and protesting.. we replaced it aback to where it belong.  And then we reloaded it all, with pots and pans and rolls of stuff… and coffee cups in the upper one with many things in the larger part.. and large dishes and bowls on top.

By noon it was all done. Everything.. well just about all, back to where it belongs. Floor washed…

We looked at each other and said at the same time.. I AM TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT…

Now to wait for Home Depot to deliver on Thursday… and hope and pray they don’t postpone it.  As we will be really sick and tired of going out to the garage to get stuff out of the old refrig.

And as with all of our projects, tempers raised, cusses were throw around, and yes, I earned my bitch wings well.

NO, we were not arguing… we were just pointing out our own opinions… of the project.. lol.. although a bypasser might have thought there might be combat soon… lol

Good Friends,

Good Friends,

It is always great to visit with good friends.. especially those who you don’t get to see all the time.. just start up where you left off the last time you saw each other.

Yesterday, that friend was Maureen, who I have known for about 45 years…

When you get to our age, there is a lot of old history to run around and laugh about.  Good times and getting over the bum times..

Maureen was driven by her daughter Shari, who I have known since she was a preteen..  and when we all get together, there is sooooooooooooooo much laughter.

The King missed most of the visit but he got in on the end.. He always enjoys these two, because there is so much laughter.

With losing so many in the past couple of years… these visits become even more important.  Now that Maureen has moved in with Shari in Spokane Valley, we can run over occasionally when we go out of town.  Before Maureen lived 6 hours away.  In the town we use to live in Ellensburg.

Good times, laughter… makes a great day… Thanks Shari for bringing  Mom over.

I came, I saw... little to nothing.. but had a good time

THE VIEW FROM MY BENCH
those who have read my blog before, know I have a bench there at the Sandpoint beach.
I call it my tombstone .it has a place with my name on it... lol. it is a great view of the area mountains and the lake itself

there was going to be a big boat race on the lake.. they said they would be going by the beach. So grabbed the camera and showed up at 10 after 10 am... It was to start at 10:30am.. I love loud cars and boats.

one heading by the statute of Liberty

a couple did show us some rooster tail.. but they were over on the far side of the lake... thank goodness for zoom lens

there were some skidoos that showed us how they could make rooster tails like the big boys, lol

A few big boats...  but a LOT of spectators with their boats.. so they could get a closer up view..

One quietly leaving the beach area.... later heard in order to have the poker run like race, they promise the authorities that they would not make any waves near private property and the beach .. for everyone's safety.. sadly where they could... isn't easy to see from land.

it was also smoky... and in the center of this picture is where all the boats disappeared for their run

and this is all we got to see after

the view from the bench...

what did happen while waiting was some interesting people who asked to share my bench.. Which of course I said yes... told them of the reason of the bench... for my grandson to bring me in my old age so I could see the view one last time.. but for other Nana's to share with their grandchildren....even have a wheel chair area next to it...

First was a gentleman named Jim... very interesting to talk to him. and found out he lived on the other side of the lake from where we were sitting.. he had read too, that the boats would be coming by the beach..  As it turns out, if he got the spy glasses out and sat on his front porch he might have been able  to see the races..

After was a older delightful couple from San Diego. Being I lived in San Diego for 8 years in the 50's and 60', we talked about how things changed. He is retired Air Force.  They lived in Washington DC before San Diego.   they were visiting some friends in CdA. for the first time.   They loved the area.  Was interested in the Naval area at Bayview. So told them how to get there, they could have a nice lunch at the restaurant there... Also told them about the Naval base that is now a Park..  So we bid good bye.. and off they went to find Bayview that he put on his phone GPS...

So it was not a bad day at all... got to see some of the boats.. see the beautiful view (the reason why I bought the bench) .... and met some great people.

The Ugly American

The Ugly American

Years ago there was a movie called THE UGLY AMERICAN.. to be honest with you, I don’t remember much about the movie.. It was in the 1950’s I think.. I think it might have been Marlon Brando who started in it.

So why do I mention it now?  Because the title reminds me of now…

It seem like about 6 or 7 years ago, Americans have gotten more angry, hateful, no patience with any one.

Seems no end to the ugliness of the human race and the American seem to have an inside straight to it.

Now before too many get upset with this… I am not talking about ALL AMERICANS…. I think and I hope they are the smaller group… but I am betting that it is a 70 – 30 ratio.

30 being the ugly.

Usually it is in the larger cities… Chicago, L.A. Seattle and New York.   But even the smaller cities are getting bad.

I live in a small community.. I think last count was a little over 600.. but I live near a little bit larger city of about 35,000.  and the nastiness that has showed up here in the past couple years is mind boggling.  Things that are said and done of late is horrifying.. This IS NOT WHO WE ARE!!...  and luckily for all of us.. it is only about 5% that are the ones who are doing it, in our area..

While the area has been hard on people who move here from California for years… (because the ones who come want to make us like California). We were a small town of loggers, farmers and of such.. Maybe with hippies thrown in, and those of Mother Earth types.   Now we are becoming more diverse.  Logging is lagging way behind from what was a very heavy employer. Farms are still alive and well, with the exception of dairys.

But of late we have had huge amount of people moving here from not only California, but Nevada, Tennessee, Texas, even Pennsylvania.  Our housing has gone like a lot of the country, sky high, and raising weekly. To the point of bidding wars over real estate asking prices.  And locals can’t afford homes.. even rent is rising to $2000 a month.  The locals are angry.  To the point of even yelling at out of state license, GO THE F…..ING HOME… The worse I heard was one woman, driving with her children in the back seat, and someone threw a container of pop at her car and yelled that to her. Scaring her kids.  What kind of person does that?

Not the old timers of our areas… The ones born here years ago, surely would NOT do that. It seems to be the younger generation who carry so much anger.  The older ones might think that.. might even talk to each other about it.. but such action is not their style.

For the love of God, please people.. use KINDNESS… where are your manners?  Is this the actions you would want your mother to see you do?  Come on…

If you don’t like something or someone… keep walking.. you do not have to react, interact with what you do not agree with.  Is this the actions you want your children to see you doing?  Repeat after me… THIS IS NOT MY RODEO, THIS IS NOT MY HORSE TO RIDE.. keep your mouth shut and keep walking..  As my mother use to tell me..  if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

Having a hard time getting started….

Took an extra week off… with the heat and also catching up with life at home.. I have gotten side tracked and forgot to do the blog last Monday.  Then Tuesday, I figured what the heck.. and same with Wednesday..

Even thought maybe it is time to retire this blog of almost 20 year.

While I might think I have more to say.. some days are blank.  Then something comes along and irritates the heck out of me.  But then again.. who is still reading my old blog.

But what the heck, I will do a few more months and see if I have bored myself…  so for now you are stuck with me.

Hope you are having a great summer, in spite of all the fires all around the country, especially out in the West here..  We have 6 fires in one area locally here. Washington is having their share and of course California has more than their fair share. So be careful out there.
