Black Fans....

As we are drawing the curtains closed around the house, as
the sun goes around the house, and then finally giving
up the ship, and turning on the window air conditioners...
It made me think back to the 40's and 50's, when I was
a kid.

I was telling a friend of mine, who is about my age...
Do you remember how we kept cool as kids?  You
know, before air conditioners?  She said we had some
kind of fan.. And I said yea.. remember those God
awful black fans we had. They were noisy, as they
rotated back and forth.  And we use to talk in front
of them and they make our voices sound funny.
Also it was before the days, of safety units.. Those
fans would spin around and around, with no guard
on them.. We would even get brave and stick our
fingers in them, to see if we could stop the blades.
Bruising the heck out of our fingers. How we kept
from breaking a finger.  Now people would sue..

Then there was the cars.. we didn't have air conditioners
in them either.  We open the windows.

And somehow we survived.

A bad day at fishing is a ...................

Actually I don't think there is a bad day of fishing...

I finally got rid of my jonah reputation... I not only caught a fish, but I caught the first TWO fish.
This is one of my favorite views... we were heading to our fishing area....
and this is how we finished the day off... with 8 fish.. and I got 4 of them.. yeah!!

This was a beautiful view we could see as we were trolling along... looking north

This is day 2 of fishing... the secret bait is corn.. the King
fishes with maggots and corn..  I did straight corn.. did just
as well as he did.  It isn't that I was scared to do the maggots,
it is just corn was just as good and easier to put on the tiny
hooks.

The King trying to get his tiny maggot on..
Sunday we did better than we did on Friday....... we got 21 on Sunday This time the King out fished me .. I got about 7..

There were others out there fishing as well.. just a wonderful day to be fishing..

couple of the homes on the lake side..

Yep, 21 of them.. these are blue backs by the way...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, G.B.W.

Fourth of July, Clark Fork, Idaho style

at the beginning there were a few early birds..

 Then the parade started....

hard to see as people stand in front of you.. and kids run to get candy

Honoring a fallen hero of the town...

Some times ...this was the only view we had of the parade... as the kids were busy getting candy that was thrown from most of the vehicles...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN...

I have been trying to get myself back into walking again..
I use to do 3 miles a day, before... about 6 or more years ago.
I did it for about 2 years... two summers and one winter.
The next winter was more icy, so fearing a broken leg at my
age, I decided to past until Spring.. But like all things we stop,
it is hard to get back into the groove.

But I have known for a year that my legs are not as strong as
they use to be.. and I NEEDED to get back into it..
Thought when the doctor told the King he should be walking
for exercise.. that I would have a partner and it is so easy with
a partner.. But he is worse than I am about getting started.

If it is a project HE wants to do, he goes at it in a strong force.
And usually finishes it up with in a day or two. But if the
project gets stalled, then he runs out of steam.. and it gets
put on hold.. Like his truck.. we are on year 12 now, since
he took it apart.  But I digress.  This isn't about him, it is
about my procrastinating. Although, we seem to be partners
in the procrastinating..

So I got up Wednesday and was determine to start.  I dragged
myself out the door, after I found my earphone radio I have
and turn it to rock station, and off I went. I went around the two
block wide / block and half deep, path I decide to start with.
When I got back to the front of the house, I decided to push
it a little more and went around another block... making 10
block long walk... which I guess that is considered 1 mile.
It isn't much, but it is a start.  Even if I did kind of limp
a little on the last half block.

So tomorrow.. I will be off again.. and hopefully can add
one more block to go around.  I need to do 3. 5 miles by the
12 with ease, or I am going to lose my goal of last year.
I did the 3 K walk.. and I did it with fair ease and with speed.
I am a fast walker, so figured I could do a 5 K this year.
Had I been doing this since March, I would be in good shape.
But of course I didn't.

So if you see an old broad, walking down HWY.200 in the am,
with a black hat and earphones on, that is me.. Hopefully not

limping.

I love this part of the year...

 Love the color of these..
these didn't get weeded.. but the oats is a nice touch with it.
These Lilies were a surprise.. I forgot I planted them last late summer..

 Lavender roses

 yellow roses are starting..
front Lily
This has been one of my more difficult roses...it is a long stem white rose... gave this one to my neighbor who is fighting cancer.. has a wonderful smell.
these are cherry tomatoes... 3 of them in a big pot.. figured I would give it a try
these are cucumbers in a pot also..

this is my early clematis... they flowers can get up to 12 inches ...these are only about 6

one peeking out from the leaves.

As we approach the middle of summer, the flowers are plentiful.
As one series goes out.. like the Peonies, Irises, Tulips, Snowball
bushes and Lilacs... in comes the Lilies, and the Roses and Clematis
While the Pansies stay around with the Johnny Popups.

And then the vegtables start to spring up with a bounty for the
dinner table.  Radishes, green onions, lettuces with strawberries
for dessert.

With promises of cabbages, apples, tomatoes, soon on the horizon.
