It starts TOMORROW……
TOMORROW is October 10th.. Most of you will get up tomorrow morning and go about your business like it is another Tuesday morning… And it is for 90% of the population…
BUT for those of us in the
10%... it is the BEGINNING OF ELK SEASON IN
Yes, there are woman who hunt.. and there are those woman who go to hunt camp with their spouses.. But there are those of us.. who don’t.. we stay home. Our only job is to have dinner ready, even when they don’t get home until an hour after dark.. Make sure the towels are ready, A beer for some.. and when their hunter arrives after dark.. don’t talk.. just listen.. and after a bath, eating and he head to bed.. This goes on for 3 months off and on.. See there is Elk Season.. and then there is deer season.. which last a very long time.. and snuck in there is about 3 or 4 days of BLACK POWDER ELK SEASON… If your guy and his group get their Elk the first week.. then there is lull until deer season. And if one gets his, they are all still going until everyone gets theirs.. They are the group, that drops of the hunter who isn’t successful yet.. and pick him up about 4 trails below.
Some of the hunter have a
hunt camp. If you think women prep..
there is nothing like a guy who is prepping for hunt camp.. It takes them at
least 5 days.. Getting camper ready..
first and foremost.. food.. beer,
or soda depending on the guys.. then clothes… you know all the camo stuff..
pants, shirt … jackets and hats… Last
and not least.. is the rifles and ammo..
And then at 0 hundred.. in the silences of the night… off they
drive.. trucks, jeeps, 4 wheelers..
because the camper is already up on the mountain. And some already went up the night before.
Mine and his group, are day
time hunters. He leaves at 0 hundred darkness.. with coffee in hand.. and hour after dark, comes staggering in..
legs hurting from hiking…or even riding the 4 wheeler… mumbles..
half ways eats, after showering.. and heading to bed.. (they like to be
in their OWN bed..so are day time hunters) to be able to start the process over
again.
Some wives mumbling grumble about their guy going hunting…. bitching about the lack of elk.. and besides then it gets messy taking care of the dang animal.. but are thrilled to have the steaks and hamburgers and roast to cook all year around.
Me… heck no.. I get to sleep in, I have the day to myself.. I can do anything I want to do, go where I want to go… and not have to worry about being at home to make lunch or what ever.. If I was a party person, heck I could go out and party with the younger versions of me… But at this late stage.. I am good with having the house to myself.. eating what I want to eat.. watch what I want to watch on tv.. So when he stumbles in, so tired.. and beat.. and needing a shower.. make something quick and easy to eat.. I listen to the tales of the day.. and off to bed he goes.. It is a great 3 months… off and on. But the first two weeks are fabulous!!
