IT TAKES A VILLAGE ...

IT TAKES A VILLAGE ...

As I told you a week or so ago..  our neighbor’s son was in a traffic accident..  He is still in the hospital with many things wrong..   and more not known yet..  He was without air a short time.. so they don’t know how much this effected his brain.  He also had several strokes, but has come out of that. He has had several surgeries.. Starting with one to stabilize him.  Then two days later to go in and correct the damage. His left leg now has a rod in it.. His right shoulder has a plate and some small rods.  He has since woke up and recognize his parents.  He is off of the ventilator… he has a temp that rises and then sets.. of late the temp as been mild.  He has finally be able to let them know (by blinks of his eyes)that he can see… he can hear.. he can move some limbs…. And has movement in his toes on the left foot.   Because of the tubing in his throat, he isn’t able to talk yet.

With all of these comes some side issues.  In his confusion, come awaking to what is going on with him.  Some is anger, some is caused from the pain, that he feels sometimes..  although they try to keep the pain level down.

To top this off.. they did a rapid test for covid (of course) and he was determine positive. Which meant they were not going to let the parents in with him anymore. The mom ask to be put in quarantine with him. Which was denied at the beginning.   Then with steady request and going higher, the short cut to this… was they finally would let the Mom only go in.. for 9 hours.. never leaving the room.  They decided to retest him and waiting for a results from that..  When the young man started to get agitated they finally gave in and let the mom and dad play tag.. so the father could come in and quiet the son down.

Here we are almost 2 weeks away… and there are set backs. Trying to see if there is more damage than first thought.  C-scan is up next. To see if there are blood clot in the brain.   A roller coaster ride at best.

Thru all of this.. the whole community.. is gathering around the parents and the young man.. plus his 3 sisters at home with good friends helping out… With prayers.. there is a fund set up and people have gone there… and put in money, there is a update for all to see that donate..  and also family are telling them… it doesn’t have to be a donation.. it can just be a prayer for all… but the people are giving..  as little as $5 to as much as $1000… with a lot of $100 in there… There are daily prayers said for this family. Offers of any help at all.  We took over a pan of lasagna and money. As we did not know how soon the family get any money from the fund.. So we gave cash so they had instant money for what ever they needed. More neighbors have done the same.  They have requested any encouraging cards for the son..  Some of us also sent cards to the sisters who are waiting at home with family friend filling in for mom and dad..   The village is standing by..

There is a group of business who got together and bought a brand new smoker type bar-q grill to raffle off for the family.

The mom has gone on Facebook and asked for prayers for the young man who hit her son..  telling how much this must be hurting him as well.. that he may not be in the hospital like her son.. but he too is hurting… so please pray for him. And when asked who it was.. she told them.. she did not know.. and when and if she gets to know.. she was NOT going to put it on facebook.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…

In this day of nastiness.. it is so heart warming to be part of this village that has stood up with this family.. God is good.
