What if they built a Prison and no one came?
You know, a play on words like the saying,
what if they had a war and no one came.
Seems that is the case in Montana.
Hardin, Montana spend 27 Million Dollars
for a state of the art prison. And it sits empty.
Seems the former Governor told the towns that
it needed this prison, but the new Governor doesn't
seem to think so... so what ever need is gone.
They tried to get out-of-state prisoners, as there
seems to be a need. I know the local towns here
have been trying to get more money to build
bigger jails. Kootenai County, for one.
But the law in Montana is, they can't have
out of state prisoners. There was a lawsuit,
and Two Rivers won, so they can have out
of state prisoners, yet it still is empty and
now the bond is in default.
Along comes the Obama Administration
saying they want to close the Cuban
Guantanamo Bay prison, so Two River
thinks, what an opportunity, they offer
their unused prison. The towns see jobs,
and want to see this happen.
But wait, their Democratic Senator Max
Baucus, says no, not on my watch are
we going to see Montana bring al-Qaida to
our state.
So there sits Montana with their state of
the art prison. Empty. No jobs in the towns,
that those who voted on it, thought would
be there. Even with over crowded jails in
their other counties.
I think Oregon has a new prison with the same
problem.
Humm, should we send our fellow states our
business? Because so far, they have built
a prison and no one is coming.

Isn't this amazing. I live in Oregon and still don't understand why they built the unused prison here. I'd be happy to see those prisoners come to our state. It would create jobs and we have 12.1 unemployment right now.
