ALMOST HAD A FLAMING HEART ATTACK…

ALMOST HAD A FLAMING HEART ATTACK…

I went down to the post office yesterday and saw the gas was at $4.44 which is 5 cents more than 4 days ago..  that was at 9:30am…

Then at 10 after 1 pm… I go by the same gas station and it is a FLAMING $4.59!!!!!!   IT JUMPED 14 CENTS IN JUST A MATTER OF HOURS!!   What happen to raising gas a couple of cents at a time…  with a week or so between.

All I could think was thank goodness we were not on our vacation still..

My daughter was in Coeur d’ Alene yesterday and gas was $4.04… a gallon..   Now Cda (as we call it) does run about 10 to 20 cents cheaper than us.. BUT 40 CENTS?

I had not hear of any major thing in the news of gas going up like it does before a holiday..  and there is no holiday in sight.   This usually happens just before Labor Day or Christmas week.

Hope your gas is stable..   and luckily we filled up a couple of days ago…IN CDA..for $4.04 at Walmart.

AND.. wow.. what happen to September? We are just 4 days away from October.. it seem like we just walked into September..   I need a cup of coffee to settle my nerves.  Gas raising..  month just about over..  too much for me today.  Hope your day is going well.

MEET FROSTY….

MEET FROSTY….

We lost our Misty girl in April of 2020…  It about wiped us out emotionally…  Took a long time not to cry when seeing her pictures..

I, for one, had decided not to do that again.. For one thing was the emotional part, but also with our age.. hate to leave behind a dog for the family to deal with..

But the King had decided a couple of months ago, that he would like to get another Doxie..   So we notified the breeder that we got Misty from.  Told her we didn’t want to puppy this time..  an older one.. maybe one of her retired show girls..  Well, as it happen she had one.. but she wanted one more litter out of her before they let her go.    In June,  she had her pups and we were on notice that in 8 weeks she would be available.

We had a wedding to go to..  so asked if we could do it the second week of September… and she said yes..

We got home from the wedding and started replacing all the things we got rid of with Misty…   And then … we got the call that it could be this past weekend..

Sure enough, her husband made arrangements to bring her by on Saturday.

So far she has warmed up to me …. Kind of..  she won’t come to me.. nor the King, so the back yard is out… until she does.. so it is lease time until then..    I stupidity did let her go .. to scout out the yard about 2 hours after the man left..  boy, that was a mistake..  we finally got her corralled so I could get her..

I put a collar on her..  and take her out with lease.. she does pretty well on it..  already did the circle the human around the legs bit..

When I sit on the couch, she will come over and sit with me..  will stay as long as I do.. but if I get up, then she wants to go find a hiding place.   Once in a while she will come to let me to put her on the chair with me.. and lay down as long as I am there.    She came to the King once… he has taken her to the chair to sit with him a couple of times.

So it will take some time for her to get use to us.. and once she will come to us when we call her, she will get free rein for the back yard that is fenced and gaited.

So meet FROSTY… a 4 year old ex show girl..  she is long haired and a mini..

update.. found out she wasn't a ex show girl. BUT produced several show pups..

British for the Day….

British for the Day….

I think just about all of the USA viewers felt a little bit of British yesterday…  Watching the process of the country of England give their Queen a farewell.   Over the weekend people stood in line for up to 17 hours..  I truly can’t think of any American, who would stand in line for 17 hours to wait to see the casket  for 3 seconds ..of someone here in this country.  Not a rock star, not congress person.. SURELY not a President..  Although there were thousand who stood by the road side to watch the train carry Lincoln and FDR…   It is one thing to go and wait at a railroad track for maybe 2 hours while you wait for the train go by..  but it another to wait in a town… on the sidewalk moving slowly… very slowly… to see anyone. Not any American..  here…  Some did in England I guess.

I did not get up a 3am. To watch the procession.   As they said it would be 6am EST.. making it 3am here.   I did see some of it at 7am.. which means it was over by the time I got up and being rebroadcasted.   With the thousand that waited in line to go into see the casket.. there were probably just as many along the possessions trip from the palace to the church and beyond.

She was a good queen.. while family members did make the head lines…  Prince Andrew… and even Charles when he was seeing his future wife while still married to his first wife.. who was dearly loved by the public.  But I do not know of anything she did that was out of order.   If you got to see some of the personal pictures and videos of her life as a horse woman… driving cars. hunting.  and her dogs ..  all of which was her passion.   Also saw where she was a mechanic of sorts during WWII.  She was no light weight.   She held her head high.. never bring dishonor to her country.

So to my British friends.. I send my regards to the lost of your QUEEN… she lead a wonderful proud life.  She served the country well.. and now for her rest, with her husband and parents and sister.   God Bless……   AND GOD SAVE THE KING.. KING CHARLES..   his mother raised the bar high.. and hopefully he does too.

TIPPING..

I HATE TIPPING   I hated when I use to be a waitress and I really hate it now!!

I hated it when I got my first waitress job as a teen in Florida.

Just give me an hourly wage and let it go.. don’t give me slave wages..  (50 cents an hour) and figure I will make the rest up in tips..  Some people tip really well, some tip lousy and some don’t tip at all..  But at least I didn’t have to pay taxes on it .. like they made it a law when Reagan was in office.. (another reason why I was not fond of that man)

And then came the day of putting your tips in a jar.. and at the end of the shift.. a percentage went to the clean up crew (the ones who clean the tables off and etc) and then the cook…  WHY THE HELL did he get part of my tips? He was already getting 6 times my wages.  And then there was the lazy waitress, who got part of my tips.. because I was putting in good money as I worked my tail off.. and she was getting lousy ones because she was rude and slow and sloppy.  So I hated tipping..  Especially when the owner then took out of it what he thought the tax would be on the tips.. or worse yet.. tally the receipts of what the food was.. and figured we SHOULD have gotten a 15% tip, and that would be taxed at such..  when in fact there were some who left a $10 bill and other who would leave a $1 bill or even two quarters.  Yep.. I HATED TIPPING..

Now I am on the other side of the coin so to speak..  I am the tipee..  For several years, what I left for a tip was considered pretty good..  I use to be in their shoes.. I did not discount my waitress when it was the cooks fault the food wasn’t up to par.. or he was super late getting it out..   Don’t beat up the messengers was my thought..   she was trying her best to cover for him..  extra coffee..  message of when it was going to be coming out.. and etc..  She tried.. he did not.

Then came the automatic 20% on your bill tab… before you even got a chance to decide.. at the fancy restaurants.  So I didn’t go there anymore…

I tip $3 for breakfast and $5 for lunch and dinner…  and if I have small children with me.. I tip $10 because I know what a mess they make.

When I mention that is my tipping rate.. I was shamed and thought to be horrible person.   I am sorry.. but that is all I can afford..  and when I mention that….  I was told..

IF YOU CAN AFFORD 20% OR 25%..  THEN STAY HOME..    WHAT?  WHAT?  Who the hell are you to tell me I should stay home.. that I am not rich enough to go out to dinner?  I was pissed and thought the person was rude.

But found others say the same to other people.

Going out to dinner anymore is not a pleasure as it use to be.  Use to be, if you timed it right.. you had a nice meal and in fairly quiet room..  Now .. you have children running around..  if you happen to sit in a booth, you get children kicking the back of your booth.. there is noise all over. And not so much the children.. as it is those who have to shout in their cell phones so everyone gets to hear their conversations.   If we happen to go out to dinner anymore.. we go at 3:45 … and get the dinner meal.. before everyone else gets off work.   And we are leaving as they come in.

But we have down graded to lunch and some times breakfast..  lot quieter for one..  the meals are a little cheaper, so the tip isn’t so big.. and my tips are correct for those others..

You know there should be some math person who can figure out what the cost of the meal is.. add the 10 to 15% into the price and call it good and outlaw all tipping in that restaurant.

One place had kitchen help tax.. what the HELL IS THAT? You are already taking the waitress tips and dividing it with the kitchen help… LIKE I SAID……… I HATE TIPPING..

I am confused… what era am I in?

I am confused…  what era am I in?

I heard on the news that the Governor of Florida put a bunch of people on a plane to land in Mass.   Isn’t that human trafficking?  Isn’t that illegal?

So is this the new … how to get rid of people in your state.. You just put them on a plane and ship them to another state?   Will the state of Mass.. sue the state of Florida for the housing of the people?  The other governors ought to love that..  So is the homeless next?  Spokane has about 500 to 600 in one of the camps that the homeless made…  that ought to be an airliner full..  where do they ship them?  South maybe.. where the weather is warmer in the winter..   Seems to me years ago.. there was talk of Seattle taking some of their homeless and give them a free BUS ride (Seattle has a limited budget than Florida state)  to a southern state.  But still, if a private person did this.. I think it would be called human trafficking.   (update) just heard since I wrote this..  that Texas is busing to other states that have Democrat governors..    and some are thinking the same..  AND these people will remain in office?  Is this the new norm?  State governors shipping out people they don't like in their state??   And if you think, oh well... think again.. because you could be just two pay checks away from being shipped also.   These are politicians FOR the people..  I don't think so...

And now we have some of the bigger companies building apartment buildings for their workers.  We have at least two of them going up here in Sandpoint.  My question… if you get fired, or quit.. do you lose your apartment?  When they talked about it..  I thought yes, that is a nice thing to do.. building your own apartments for your workers for cheaper than the outrageous rent of $2,000 a month rent, if you can even find a place.   But some where in the back of my mind, was Tennessee Ernie’s song… I owe my soul to the company store…

I'M .... BACK....

I’m back…..

Well, it was a nice two weeks off..  enjoyed our time with the whole family…  The wedding was beautiful. The little kids danced as much or more than the young ones..

Was great to see our son’s and their family.

So now it is catch up time..  Doing the wash, taking care of the garden. We had the young man next door watering for us and he did a great job.

It seems doing my stuff from day to day.. nothing in a big hurry, most of the time.. it all gets down and not much a problem..

But being gone for just short of 2 weeks, well, it has taken me 5 days just to get things up to par.  First at hand was getting the bills paid that came in while we were gone. Luckily the way I planned it.. that was only a 1 hour job.  Then there was the washing of our vacation clothes.. the next day.. the washing of our clothes we had in the hamper before we left.

Then there was the change of sheets and washing them.

We no longer live on a dirt road, as it was paved about 8 years ago.. but for some reason.. everything was dusty.  Then there was a sweeping of the floors..  Pulling out the AC out of the windows.  And etc.. etc.. etc..

So coming back off of vacation is a whole new work selection to catch up… and I am 90% caught up.

So it is back to normal, what ever that is.. next week.

Oh, we did not watch any news at all.. while gone, so it was a shock to come back and find out the Queen of England had died.
