R.E.S.P.E.C.T…

 R.E.S.P.E.C.T…

Remember Aretha
 Franklin song?

Of late I have had problems or pet peeves, the lack of respect… Lack of respect of person and property…

Walking thru the cemetery over the weekend… it was hard to understand the lack of respect for the dead… There were tombstones
that has chips in them.  Vandals who took a slug hammer to them. Either breaking them or chipping away..  I just don’t understand that.  I was talking to the son of a friend.. and mention to him, about how happy I was to see that there were soooo many lilac bushes there.  I remember when my husband was buried there 33 years ago.. that when I visited his grave.. people had pulled up different lilac bushes that were in near by..  It was heart breaking to see that.. so was happen to see so many of them now.. Told him how sad it is to see someone would want to destroy something in a cemetery. He is now on the board of the cemetery, and said.. you would be surprised at the vandalism that is done.  That is when he showed me one of the really old tombstones that had a chunk out of it.  Also they had pounded down a small tiny baby tombstone so it was only ½ inch tall.  He got down on his knees and started to dig with his hands, until my daughter gave him the trowel that she brought.. He was able to dig it out and have it stand as it did before.

What goes thru these people’s mind that they think this is ok to do? What anger do they come from?

Respect.. where you admire someone who worked hard to complete something.
Respect, where you give someone space when needed…
Respect, you don’t receive it if you don’t give it..
Respect.. not to put others down because they are different than you are.
Respect, you don’t have to like, or be a friend of someone, to treat them with respect..

Respect.. shines back on you.. to have respect for others, yourself, and property of others.

Respect usually is taught by your parents.. so maybe, if your parents don’t have respect.. you don’t learn it..

Respect is the aspect that keeps everything in your life, on an even keel….it shows pride reflection on how you treat others…reflects on you as a person.Did respect die with common sense.. because I see it so wanting in others… No matter how high up in life they are …

You might be a parent if….

You might be a parent if….

You might be a parent if you have a white stain on your shoulder.
Those of us.. parents of young children.. know that is the sign of a burp that went wrong.. or south.. which ever…

You might be a parent …. If you have hair on your clothes.. small tiny hair … of possible red.. or white.. or what ever color your dog is..  Those of us who have what is now called fur babies.. know that is the sign of your fur babies shedding.. which some times is just spring time.. getting rid of a winter coat.. or it can be all year round..
And I believe the burp stain is easier to get rid of than the shedding hair…

And because Misty is now red/copper … AND white.. I have both.
If you are a dog owner.. you understand..

Random thoughts…

Mushrooms come in a can…
Fungi comes from the field..
I know, I know they are the same,
But I won’t eat raw mushrooms.

Remember when it was safe to be at school
And at church?

Unruly buses of the 1950’s.?. they made the last oldest
student, off the bus safety officer. You got a white wide belt
that wrapped around you waist, and over your shoulder with
a badge.  That kid got to be, because he/she was the first stop
on the bus and the last one off at night.  Wonder why they don’t
have that now?

Remember things….

As I removed my loafers on Sunday after church… I thought of how many loafers I had over the years.. My first pair were brown with a copper penny in them, later to be changed to dimes.… After I became an adult… I bought black. And had dimes in them.  Do any of you remember why we put dimes in our loafers?   It was to use in a pay telephone…  For those under 30.. those were phones in stores and gas stations.    We would have those dimes in case we got in trouble, or a guy was out of line or dump you, or just needed mom and dad to come get you…

So many things of years ago… toughing up your feet in the summer, going barefooted… because shoes were for church. And when streets started to be paved.. it was hot foot for sure.. but your feet harden up and you could walk anywhere.

Haying was a big part of my summers.  Mom and Dad mowing.. me until my brother got old enough, kicking hay in rows. Until Mom and dad got a rake.  Me driving the truck while my parents threw hay on to the truck.. My brother driving when he reached 7 and I had to stomp the hay down so we could get more on.

Those were the days of unlocked doors. Keys left in the cars and trucks.  No one stole your vehicle, or broke in to you home in the country.  My kids got to be raised in a similar childhood…. Too bad kids these days aren’t.
