OOPS...

It just dawn on me, I didn't post a subject this morning...
Just too busy doing things really early in the am, before
the heat hits.. today it was pruning the roses of all
thier dead heads.. pulled a few weeds.. transplanted
raspberries... so guess I will throw a few pictures
and call it good.
Sorry but some times .. life gets in the way of
best laid plans.

Last night I looked out my living room window and saw the sun disappear and then reappear with the storm going by the north
west of us...

As the Nation turns..changes

Life as we know it, has changed.. last week.
Some think for the better, some are upset.

Affordable care and same sex marriages..
The subjects have been in the news for years.
And in the hands of the Supreme Court for months.
And now the decisions have been brought forth.
Finally.

But I am sure that will not end the debate.
That people won't just let things be.  The Republicans
have been trying over and over to get Affordable care
thrown out how many times? 33 I think the last count was.
So will this finally end the hashing and rehashing?
Will the forth coming elections with the many candidates
who have thrown their hat in the ring, drop how they
will get rid of Affordable care?  One can only hope..
but I am not holding my breath.  Will they drop the anti
gay marriages debate?  We can only hope....but
again, I am not holding my breath.

It would be a wonderful moment in history, if the
decisions would just let people be. Let us all get on
with out trying to force our opinions on others. Get
on with life, keeping our jobs, decent wages, owning
a home.. keeping our home fronts safe.

Let the same sex get married. What does that do to
you, personally? Are they going to get married in
your house? No... are they asking you to attend?
Unless you are a friend.. then No.  Let's get to the
point of no matter where you are on this subject..
that when a gay person in your office, or wherever,
says they are getting married... you can just say...
that is nice.  And let it go.

But somehow, I don't think that is going to happen.
Maybe those of us who are happy for the gays to have
the same rights that the rest of us do.. can stand up and
say to the others.. when the rant starts.. "Oh, just
drop it.. I don't want to listen to you".. and walk
away.  After all, it is a form of bullying..

To all of you who now are free to get marriage.. welcome
to the club.. you get all the glee, joy and bumps and lumps
like the rest of us..   Some one to come home to, someone
to go out with for dinner, some one to go on vacation with,
someone who will love you..... and of course, some one
to fight with, to divorce, to have community property to
have to divide.. child support payments.. and visitations
rights..   just like the rest of us.   But it will be worth the

ride.

Visiting the past....

I bought a magazine from a yard sale about a month ago..
And just getting around to reading it.. It is LIFE magazine
January 1, 1940.

Being I was born in 1940.. it peaked my interest.. of course the
magazine is about 4 months older than me.

The car ads are a hoot... first of all, they list the price.. which you
don't find any more.. Pontiac can be had for $783...deluxe 4 door
for $970 but you had to pick them up at the factory for that price.
More of the dealer got it.  Chevrolet could be had for $659 +shipping
and wait there is more... the shift is on the steering column now!!.
Also GENERAL MOTORS must have been feeling the pain of the
competitors as they have a full page ad about the quality of the
their vehicles.

An article of how the Germans were sabotaged their big ships,
because they were at war with England and British ships were
hunting for the their ships, be they war ships or merchant marine.
The Columbia was running out of food and fuel, so they did in
their ship where the American's could see it, so they could rescue
the men from the ship...  Remember we aren't in the war yet.
There is the ship, Admiral Graf Spee too.. who after being rescued
by the Americans.. the captain shot himself in disgrace.
Also I didn't know that there were Americans who volunteered
in the Canadian Army so they could fight the Germans.

Douglas Fairbanks had died... the moon shiners were alive and well,
and well sorted after.. New safety glass is now available.. the old one
could get water in side or dry out from the sun.. but this has a polyvinyl
in it.. so heat or cold doesn't bother it..   And some of the ads.. cough
drops... Smith Bros.  (do they still make them) my favorite was cherry.
Martini and Rossi vermouth.. ads.  Paul Jones Gentleman's Whiskey.

Movie of the week.. Hunchback of Notre Dame.... an 6 page
article about England going to war, and the darkness of the
nights.. no lights allowed.
6 page article on a JOE MARTIN who was a Senator from Mass.
from poor beginnings, ended up a publisher.. and then a senator.
(see not all congress are lawyers.. lol actually they listed several
different occupations.. veterinary, meat packer, dentist, druggist,
stagehand, train engineer and even a co owner of a large ranch..
didn't say who). The article was about the newly voted in
Congressmen and he was made the Minority Leader. And the
high hopes of his term, as he was a nice man with common
sense..   (now that is a rarity now days)

And of course you have to have entertainment news.. a debut
of one Ms. Camilla Davis.. coming from great money, enough
to hire Elsa Maxwell, to throw the party for her..

The coffee ad here.. talks about the good of coffee, yet doesn't
name a brand.. don't know why.

Anyway, it was a good read.. to see where the world was before
I was born.. before we went to war... and how bad it was for
England to be at war.   My mother use to have a subscription
to LIFE magazine.. and I would devour it when it came. We
all remember the end of the war picture.. of the sailor kissing
the nurse.. LIFE was a great magazine.

AND Happy Birthday to my oldest.. she is now the
legal speed limit... the double nickels..

IT'S A GUN.... IT'S A FLAG.... IT'S A..............

Do you remember in the days of comics and early
television.. when Superman came on.. IT'S A BIRD
IT'S A PLANE,  IT'S A MAN...NO, IT IS SUPERMAN.

Watching the news on the South Carolina church murders,
I get the same feeling of the people, especially in the media,
are running around pointing and trying play the blame
game...

First off, the usual... the gun.. let's get rid of guns.. that is
the first cry when ever there is a shooting..
Now it is the flag fault, that flies from the state capital.
What is next to be blamed?

And why isn't the real reason yelled?  The same reason for
all murders, especially public mass murders?  The obvious.
At least it is obvious to me...  why aren't they screaming about
mental health? The warp mind, the radical mind? Why not
that?

Nothing makes me more sick, then the interview of the
friends and family, or the local police.  HE/SHE has had
many problems in the past. Some times HE/SHE scared me
with their way of thinking..... I knew some day he/she was
going to go off the deep end.  Yes, we have been called on
this person several times, the police will say.  HELLO...
why something wasn't done about getting help for that
person...

Oh, I get it.. Let's talk about taking guns away from
millions of sane, respectful, legal gun owners... that is
ok.. but for the love of God, let us not infringe on the
rights of an individual who might go off the deep end?

Now I am not from the South, so I don't get excited about
the call of the rebel flag of the civil war.  To me, it is just
a flag.  Should the flag stay or go? Should it be placed
somewhere else besides the state capital.. only the people
of the South can decide that.  To me it is just a flag, a large
piece of material.. which represents the people of the Southern
states, who decide to take on the Federal government. Which
brought on a war... a war, by the way, didn't not have actually
to do with slavery... slavery was the side cause... at least that
was the reason given when I was studying it in high school
many years ago.. And read a couple times over the years.

The honest truth is ... Mr. Foot, if he had no access to a gun,
would have found another way.. like bomb, fire or what ever
came to his demented mind.  Keeping all guns away from
people will not stop murders.. but getting help for the people
who have broken minds, just might help a great deal..

Take the money that is given for banning guns.. and use it
for mental health.  Mental health, sadly under funded...

Also years ago, I said, that I thought in 2nd or 3rd grade,
there should be a class in tolerance. To be re-enforced
every 3 years... like 6th...9th... 12th... Maybe if we are
all taught tolerance there would be less hatred.. after all,

we hate what we don't understand.
