The sun shine over this old Idaho home…

The sun shine over this old Idaho home…

It is time to start the yard work…. AND oh, my

God, I have muscles that have now worked

since last year… and oh, my aching back.

The hot tub sure did feel good… I am getting too

old for this..   We cut a good share off of my 20 + year old

Lilac bush..  I hate to do it..  but it was getting so rangy.

It was started to get near the electric line to the house.

Also we have decided.. we HAVE to do something about

the house. The paint is peeling… badly..

The lilac bush was right up against the house.  It almost

Made me cry when I went out to see how much the King

Had chopped off.  I think I have about ¼ of a bush I had

yesterday morning.    No more arch pictures for a while.

I also washed off the deck.. We have a mill that makes presto logs… and the dust that comes from the stack is

an on going problem.  There has been council meetings about it. And last month was a dozzy as we came in pairs to state our disgust with stuff.

The deck was covered, it was in the door way.. it was all around the sides as you go down the step.

Anyway we got some  done.  And we came to realize how much we have to get done by fall.  Might have to give up some of my roses bushes for this year.. by cutting back and bending forward to get the metal sheets behind them.

I am not looking forward to this summer.. This is more than we have ever done in a summer and we are a lot older.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE ...

IT TAKES A VILLAGE ...

As I told you a week or so ago..  our neighbor’s son was in a traffic accident..  He is still in the hospital with many things wrong..   and more not known yet..  He was without air a short time.. so they don’t know how much this effected his brain.  He also had several strokes, but has come out of that. He has had several surgeries.. Starting with one to stabilize him.  Then two days later to go in and correct the damage. His left leg now has a rod in it.. His right shoulder has a plate and some small rods.  He has since woke up and recognize his parents.  He is off of the ventilator… he has a temp that rises and then sets.. of late the temp as been mild.  He has finally be able to let them know (by blinks of his eyes)that he can see… he can hear.. he can move some limbs…. And has movement in his toes on the left foot.   Because of the tubing in his throat, he isn’t able to talk yet.

With all of these comes some side issues.  In his confusion, come awaking to what is going on with him.  Some is anger, some is caused from the pain, that he feels sometimes..  although they try to keep the pain level down.

To top this off.. they did a rapid test for covid (of course) and he was determine positive. Which meant they were not going to let the parents in with him anymore. The mom ask to be put in quarantine with him. Which was denied at the beginning.   Then with steady request and going higher, the short cut to this… was they finally would let the Mom only go in.. for 9 hours.. never leaving the room.  They decided to retest him and waiting for a results from that..  When the young man started to get agitated they finally gave in and let the mom and dad play tag.. so the father could come in and quiet the son down.

Here we are almost 2 weeks away… and there are set backs. Trying to see if there is more damage than first thought.  C-scan is up next. To see if there are blood clot in the brain.   A roller coaster ride at best.

Thru all of this.. the whole community.. is gathering around the parents and the young man.. plus his 3 sisters at home with good friends helping out… With prayers.. there is a fund set up and people have gone there… and put in money, there is a update for all to see that donate..  and also family are telling them… it doesn’t have to be a donation.. it can just be a prayer for all… but the people are giving..  as little as $5 to as much as $1000… with a lot of $100 in there… There are daily prayers said for this family. Offers of any help at all.  We took over a pan of lasagna and money. As we did not know how soon the family get any money from the fund.. So we gave cash so they had instant money for what ever they needed. More neighbors have done the same.  They have requested any encouraging cards for the son..  Some of us also sent cards to the sisters who are waiting at home with family friend filling in for mom and dad..   The village is standing by..

There is a group of business who got together and bought a brand new smoker type bar-q grill to raffle off for the family.

The mom has gone on Facebook and asked for prayers for the young man who hit her son..  telling how much this must be hurting him as well.. that he may not be in the hospital like her son.. but he too is hurting… so please pray for him. And when asked who it was.. she told them.. she did not know.. and when and if she gets to know.. she was NOT going to put it on facebook.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…

In this day of nastiness.. it is so heart warming to be part of this village that has stood up with this family.. God is good.

Going with the flow….

Going with the flow….

Today is one of  those good news, bad news.. days..

First the good news…Went to the tax guy to get our paper work signed to send in.. and WE DON’T OWE UNCLE SAM ANYTHING.. AND the state owes us the grocery tax refund.. Not much..but enough to maybe buy dinner and a latte..

Bad news.. the garage door decided not to open.. So short me had to jump to get the cable to override it.. and then short me had to take  the edge, and  push it up…

Oh, well, that is the way life goes… could have been worse. Could have trapped the car in the garage..

STOP .. STOP.. RIGHT NOW.. JUST STOP.. orange lights

STOP .. STOP.. RIGHT NOW.. JUST STOP.. orange lights

I know we have ALL done it in our life time.. some have done it a couple and then there are those who do it all the time…STOP IT!!!...  JUST STOP!!!

How many times have you approach the lights at an intersection… to see the orange light come up as you are approaching it… and went thru anyway, knowing full well the red was showing as your vehicle’s rear end is still in the intersection..  I know you have.. I have to admit.. I have even been very close with it… figuring I can jerk to a stop or gun it.. then gun it, hoping my car clear the intersection.

But I won’t be doing it anymore..  and I have probably done it less than 10 times in my 65 years of driving..

My husband, on the other hand, as done it many times… we have heated discussions about it.. as the orange light was already showing when he was approaching the area… so you know our front end is in the area during the red.   BUT after this past week.. he has promised never to do it again  Never..  and I am going to hold him to that promise…

In our area there is two lights in particular that semi’s have blown at the red light.. going thru while just turning red.. blown thru … just as the turning lane is starting to cross in front of them..  There are pick ups who have done the same and a few cars..  Some times there is accidents.. lots of times close calls..  How many times we have wished for a police officer to be parked across the street in the gas station parking lot..

So what has brought this change in my husband’s heart. And a few others..  and reinforced my thinking of JUST STOP.. when you see an orange light?

Our neighbor’s son..  He was riding a motorized scooter to work, like had done for a year or so.. Not a wild kid..actually a very common sense guy. AS he was going with the flow, of the traffic that just got released by the green light… He was hit (t-boned)  by a pick up truck who blew the red light doing 45mph at least.   At least that is the speed limit..  That boy is in the hospital..  the first 24 hours were touch and go.. Now thank God, he is improving.. He is not awake yet.. but made it thru the surgeries, and the breathing procedure to get the use of his lung again.  It is going to take 6 months to a year to get back to some where in the ball park of normal..  At least that is what we pray… all of us are praying.. the neighborhood, the community…local churches..  we are praying .. he will recover..   The bones to heal, the lungs to clear, the liver to function like it is intended to do…

So as you read this.. if you are a praying person..  please join us as we all are doing.  Pray for his family.. he has 3 sisters..  pray for his parents as their whole life has been up heaving to say the least..  and even pray for the young man who could not wait … just a minute or two.. in the pick up truck.

And for the LOVE of GOD.. STOP..

STOP..when you see that orange light…. JUST STOP!!

Why do I feel like it is 1939?

Why do I feel like it is 1939?

In 1939, we were not at war.. but we were aware of the war over in Europe.  Bombs going off in Paris, England, but most of all.. and not in the papers.. was about the killing of Jews in Germany.  The paper.. our only real source of news, along with the radio at the time.. Nothing like we have now.. Lot of the news was a day or more old..

Years later we have read articles of why did the world just stand by while Hitler kill thousands of German Jews?

And I understand that question… because I find myself asking the same question as I was watching  “in our face daily, morning noon and night… pictures of the bombing of Ukraine.  Pictures of a pregnant woman being taking out of a hospital on a gurney… about 8 or 9 months… was there to have her baby and it got bomb first?  Reports of the people killed in this Russian madness… many of them children.

People board buses for Poland.. some even walking.. some using subways for bomb shelters…Women and children clutching what is dear to them.. a suitcase and a pet, heading for safer ground…

AND WE …THE WORLD…WATCH… there are those who headed to Poland to help with the people coming over the border.. People sending money to buy supplies to charities and churches in Poland to help them with the thousands and maybe by now, million of people coming across the border.

THANKFULLY…POLAND.. OPEN THEIR BORDERS Probably because they remember World War 2… One woman who was in her 70’s, sleeps on her couch so those who she invited to stay with her.. total strangers who don’t even speak her language..  using only the language of compassion…

I don’t want to go to war. Not another one… At least not alone..  but where is NATO…. WHERE IS UNITED NATIONS..  Do we just stand by and watch?  Is it because Ukraine isn’t part of NATO?  And why when it was still just in the thoughts of Putin..  didn’t we take them into NATO?

I just don’t understand…  Maybe someone who is smarter than me.. more military based, can explain it to me…

DO WE ONCE AGAIN…JUST STAND BY AND WATCH AS OTHERS GET KILLED?

The scary part is.. how soon will China step in and help the Russia’s?   We know that is next.. Then will it be WWIII?

Sure sounding like 1939….

Do you carry or wear a purse?

Do you carry or wear a purse?

By wearing, I mean do you have one of the bigger purses, but I guess actually there are small ones… that have a strap that goes over your shoulder…   the other you hold in your hand all the time.

Those of you over the age of 60, and 70 .. I know you had all kinds of purses.  And depending on whether you had kids ..if you had it filled with everything to keep your kid quiet as well, as fix anything that could go wrong.

There are the others, who have tiny hammers, screwdrivers, sewing kit, paper, pen, nails, fingernail polish and etc.. I know that.. because I was one of those.

I have a clutch purse that has sat in my closet for 20 ..30 or more years.. Used it maybe twice.  I should get rid of it. It is where I went to a wedding and wanted to class it up a bit.

The purse I had when I was single, and then married with children. Has been of many sizes and of course,  colors.  As a single, it had boxy types, with some of them being hard plastic that look more like a suitcase.  In that I had varies things. Mostly to do with lipstick, nail polish, and remover and etc..  As I added children.. they became almost backpack size. With everything you can imagine.

The said little hammer, several types of screw drivers, small pair of pliers, nails and screws…..candy bars, crackers and gum (for quieting said child) note books, and pens.. oh, gosh pens…  because they would enter the purse never to be seen again…. Until you tipped it upside down.

Now come on.. you know what I mean..  How many men who have been near you, when you started to empty your purse?  With the start of taking things out and about half way thru, not finding what you are looking for, so then you just dumping upside down..  And the man standing there is with a gapping mouth or a face of horror, as he sees things still coming out moments later… In disbelief of what all is now on the table.. and then… then.. when you finally have found the item of interest, you pile all that back into the purse.

Nothing strikes terror in the face of a husband, when he is asked by his wife, to get something out of the purse.  Or when his wife says, well, it is in my purse, will leave saying…forget it.. I will find another..

Those women on a show, showing the prize of purses on a game show, or even ones walking down the street with all their makeup…. They would never understand.  Young mothers have diaper bags .. (they didn’t have those in our days) and then a good size purse .. depending on how many kids she has…

Men don’t get it.. and those men who started wearing over their shoulder bags.. what a JOKE!!!

What do I carry now? NOTHING.. NOPE NOTHING.. but I have POCKETS.. my vest have pockets.. my jackets have POCKETS.. with zippers…  but don’t carry what I use to. No more kids.. we are up to great grands, so no extras.. that is for mom..  I won’t buy pants with out POCKETS.

Did you know?? March is Woman History month?

Did you know?? March is Woman History month?

In 1987, the National Women’s History Project petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month of March and was succeed ….    I did not know that..

But then again.. these days.. they have special day and now months for everything.

But seriously, I did not know that until last week. Guess I must live under a rock.I have read over the years about some woman.. heck .. many woman, who have done some amazing things.

I am not talking about Gloria or the others of the 1960’s.

I am talking about the woman who did the numbers for the government to make the man go to the moon safely. They made a movie about it about 2 years ago. Until then, no one knew it.

You know about Madame Currie but did you know about  Grace Eldering and Pearl Kendrick who found out how to come up with the vaccine for whooping cough that was killing thousands of children in the 1930’s?

You know about women astronauts but do you know who

Harriet Quimby is? The first woman to fly at night… and so many other things she did.. Hanna Reitsch becomes the first woman to fly a helicopter and the first woman to be licensed as a helicopter pilot .   women who flew planes from bases to bases  during WWII, to be repaired or needed on the front after being built… women… because there was not enough men. Who did not get recognized  until just 8 years ago… most of them passed…  I did get to meet some at Dr. Bird’s museum when he put up a stone with their names on it.

How many woman code breakers and spies during WWII? Can you name? There are many… ones who didn’t see their families for 4 or more years.. due to hiding out in France and etc.

There are a lot of woman who did firsts, but were denied credit until recently,   not getting credit because… they are women…

SO HAPPY WOMEN HISTORY MONTH….

One of the Silent diseases…

One of the Silent diseases…

We know there is several.. there is one that is cancer, because it appears without any warning..  like pancreas cancer.. it is already major before you know you have it.

One that I have noticed to pop up, with some people who seem to have it together.. is anxiety attacks.  Some have depression with it.  And that kind of lets you know, something is amiss.  But just anxiety attacks by themselves… seem to be sneaking up on those who never thought they would have them.  I just read that some have come  about, because of the covid..  Not from having covid, not from the shot, but from staying home.

And I agree. Those who were very active. Always so busy.. doing projects, helping others, working, always on the go…   never be anxious about anything…  are now being snuck up on.

As a friend of mine told me last week.. She went to town the other day and could not wait to get home. Went to each errand as quick as she could and then rushed home.. Had this need to be home.

Another mention the same thing.  He went to a couple of stores and had this need to get home.  Neither one of these, in the past, have ever seem like the type who would be like that.  She was what I would call a social butterfly.  Not now.

I noticed years ago, when I was working in the nursing home. We had some of our resident’s who did not want to leave the home, not even for just a hour or so.  Or if they went, they talked their families into returning him with an hour or so. We had women who would not leave at all. Who would not want to go, and when family told them, they would have fun.. let’s go.. and then they bolted at the door to outside, back into the building and back at their room.

I think this past two years of mainly staying home, people are getting anxiety attacks about being away from their homes.  Less trips to town.  And now with calling in your orders from Walmart and other stores, it is worse. Now they can call it in, arrive at the said time, get their products put in the vehicle … and leave for home.. had increase that anxiety if they have to do more.

Call in your order, order your products at Amazon and such. We are become more and more  home bodies. With gas getting so high, less and less trips to our of state to see relatives.  Never knowing what the other state has for rules of mask and etc.

Makes you wonder, what our future will be, if we hunker down anymore.

by the way, I too, have this..  a heaviest on my shoulders and head... before I go somewhere.. especially if it is with out the King.. don't know what I fear.

HELLO MARCH…

HELLO MARCH…

They say March comes in like a lion and leaves like a lamb.. Well, I sure hope that includes problems as well as the weather. Because this 1st and Tuesday has been a bitch.

Didn’t start out too bad..  went to the Dr. and good pretty good news..  While I knew I was old.. so can’t be perfect.. but we did settle on.. not bad for an old broad.

So I can still continue being a P.I.T.A. to my kids.

When I got home.. the garage door was still hope. Because I got ready to leave for the doctor’s office.. the garage door would not open.. Not a good thing when you have an appointment in 15 minutes. But not a big problem, as the king just pulled on the cord and he was able to get the door to open manually..  So I backed out and went on my merry little way.

But as I entered the driveway, I see the door open and yellow wire running across the door way and yard. Not a good sign.   Seems that a wire had wore thru for some reason..  but we have lived here for 24 years.. so can’t complain much.   Long and short of it.. 3 hours later. Rewiring and replace stuff…  it was up and going again.

Also while the car was out, I figured it was a good time to wash out the refrigerator that is out there.  Seem during our first deep freeze …. the pop that was in there… exploded …ALL OVER THE WALLS of the refrigerator..  So took everything out, threw stuff away, washed down the whole thing.. and put the car away.  So HELLO MARCH…
