STOP .. STOP.. RIGHT NOW.. JUST STOP.. orange lights
I know we have ALL done it in our life time.. some have done it a couple and then there are those who do it all the time…STOP IT!!!... JUST STOP!!!
How many times have you approach the lights at an intersection… to see the orange light come up as you are approaching it… and went thru anyway, knowing full well the red was showing as your vehicle’s rear end is still in the intersection.. I know you have.. I have to admit.. I have even been very close with it… figuring I can jerk to a stop or gun it.. then gun it, hoping my car clear the intersection.
But I won’t be doing it anymore.. and I have probably done it less than 10
times in my 65 years of driving..
My husband, on the other hand, as done it many times… we
have heated discussions about it.. as the orange light was already showing when
he was approaching the area… so you know our front end is in the area during
the red. BUT after this past week.. he
has promised never to do it again
Never.. and I am going to hold
him to that promise…
In our area there is two lights in particular that semi’s have blown at the red light.. going thru while just turning red.. blown thru … just as the turning lane is starting to cross in front of them.. There are pick ups who have done the same and a few cars.. Some times there is accidents.. lots of times close calls.. How many times we have wished for a police officer to be parked across the street in the gas station parking lot..
So what has brought this change in my husband’s heart. And a few others.. and reinforced my thinking of JUST STOP.. when you see an orange light?
Our neighbor’s son.. He was riding a motorized scooter to work, like had done for a year or so.. Not a wild kid..actually a very common sense guy. AS he was going with the flow, of the traffic that just got released by the green light… He was hit (t-boned) by a pick up truck who blew the red light doing 45mph at least. At least that is the speed limit.. That boy is in the hospital.. the first 24 hours were touch and go.. Now thank God, he is improving.. He is not awake yet.. but made it thru the surgeries, and the breathing procedure to get the use of his lung again. It is going to take 6 months to a year to get back to some where in the ball park of normal.. At least that is what we pray… all of us are praying.. the neighborhood, the community…local churches.. we are praying .. he will recover.. The bones to heal, the lungs to clear, the liver to function like it is intended to do…
So as you read this.. if you are a praying person.. please join us as we all are doing. Pray for his family.. he has 3 sisters.. pray for his parents as their whole life has
been up heaving to say the least.. and
even pray for the young man who could not wait … just a minute or two.. in the
pick up truck.
And for the LOVE of GOD.. STOP..
STOP..when you see that orange light…. JUST STOP!!
