SO IT STARTS…
Yesterday started the serious winter.. we have had.. a few .. hey hey.. look at this.. SNOW.. but it was gone within a day or less.. and it was only about an inch..
But yesterday it was serious stuff and still coming.. We decided to go to Coeur d Alene to get my hearing aide at Costco .. it was back from the factory for repairs.
We headed
out of town.. and it had just started to snow. We got about 8 miles out to be
greeted by a white out blizzard. We had slowed down.. going steady.. talking
about maybe we should turn around and go a different day. We knew it was going
to be another storm coming.. and then
the snow slowed down.. and the road was
getting slightly better. We saw two
wrecks on our way.
We had 43
miles to go in all.. One of the wrecks
was a white SUV that had slide off the road.. although I don’t know if slide
off is the correct word for it.. As it
looked like it shot off the road, thru the ditch and pass about 8 trees before
it stopped. There were 3 people around
that had stopped.. then about a mile
down the road, there was a car upside down… and what appears to be a small flat
trailer it was towing.. also upside down. And all kinds of emergency vehicles around it. So we kept driving… the weird part
was, the road was clear of snow.. best we could figure out …maybe that a half
hour or so.. it was covered with black ice, maybe.
After going
to the store.. we were going to go get something to eat, but when the snow
stepped up, we decided to head for home.. And was glad we did.. as it got
worse. At home there was 2 inches of
snow on the back deck.. I shoveled it off..
2 hours later Ken took off an inch.. and then two more hours later, I
took another 2 inches off.
So we are
into the serious stuff.. hang on to your hats … ladies and gentles.. it could be a rough ride.. but again… maybe not..
Last year we had a horrible snow storm for 3 days.. the rest of the
winter was really mild .. only an inch or two at a time.. weeks apart.. So we
shall see as the weather is really been weird for about 3 years.
