THANK GOD THAT THIS YEAR IS OVER… So we say good bye to 2021…. And Hello…… to……
2022
May your evening be joyous.. and May God bless us as we start this new year. So we wish you good health… to stay safe.
THE UPS AND DOWNS OF OUR YEAR…
The year started out with the downs of life... within 38 days of the year, The King lost his brother to the side effects of cancer.
As you
probably read in the blog we spent many days helping out his widow, dealing
with their STUFF. And still have a ways
to go with that…
The ups came at the end of June when we ventured out away from home after a year of hiding with the covid threats.
We went to
see our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren… as you read about our trip in late June and
early July… getting to see the famous WOREL BROS. CHAMPION CAR RACE…
The rest of the year was ups and downs with small stuff of life… But come December … the King and I have both had our share of downs. As I wrote on my facebook page.
Well, that was embarrassing.. had an ah ha moment of...HELP, I FELL DOWN AND I CAN'T GET UP.. was walking ... well, wobbling out thru the snow which is 3 feet tall in the front yard.. to the bush to put up bird feeder blocks.. half way there, I lost my balance and down I went.. could not stand up, so got on my knees to push up.. one foot went down to almost the bottom (still could feel snow under it) but could not get the other foot under me.. threw a snowball at the window... Ken comes out on the porch and says...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? .. told him to throw the long handle brush over to me.. and used that as a stick to be able to stand.. finish my trouping out there to the bush.. put the block in the frame... and headed back.. with broom as a cane..
I love the snow.. l love the snow.. keep
reminding me . and HELL NO, i DIDN'T DO A SNOW ANGEL...... felt more like the
beached snow whale..
And then on Sunday, the King went out to see our daughter and to drop off some cough meds for our grandson. His driveway was impossible to travel, so the King left it with his mother. In the process of walking down her walkway, he too, took and spill… and with calls out to our daughter, she got a chair for him to help himself stand back up. Not the best of ways to end the year.
Trouble with falling and luckily (we count our blessings of no broken bones) while not hurt badly, … only damage is the pride or dignity of the fall. While we kind of pride ourselves with still being spry…it is times like this ..we find ourselves vulnerable. Guess it is our winter exercise that keeps us going and so far strong……. it is called the snow removal exercise… Shoveling, snow blowing, and plowing.. You poor people down there in the Southern states.. aren’t privy to such a great time…
The tone of the voice….
For one thing, we don’t get a tone of voice thru our written word.. Be it text, email, or even letters. Not unless you use a lot of tiny pictures of your emotions to do with the words. And 99.9% of the people don’t use those. Unless they are on Faeebook.
So with the written word, we
lose about half of our communication meanings. And a lot of times feelings get
hurt from the written word. Some of that is the fault of the reader. As the
reader puts in their own emotion to the words.
I was even accused of being
harsh because of what I had wrote. When
I told the reader, I didn’t think I was harsh.. they said well the tone of your
note was. I asked them how did they get
that from those words on a piece of paper?
Well, it is the way you are? I
said excuse me? I talk harsh? Well, you
do when you are strong feeling about a issue.
I looked at the person and said.. Wow.. so you are judging by what you
THINK I might be feeling. I told the
person I was not mad, or angry when I wrote the note. I told her, that I was
just stating a fact. I asked her if I
sounded harsh now as I talked? She said,
well, no. Do I sound angry? No… I told her it sadden me, that she
automatically felt I was angry without hearing my voice.. And I felt maybe when
I wrote things.. I should maybe put smiling faces near the words so to show I
was not angry. She said that would be
silly…
And I also thought .. do I do
that too, do I inject the writers emotions when I read what they wrote? I hope
not.. Of course if you use capitals.. it gives you the notion, or !! with the
words, it gives the urgent of the words.
Then there is the tone of
voice when you do speak to someone. Some
people you talk to, it is a soft tone. Business is a little more sharper to get
your point over, or softer if you are trying to get your point over with out coming
on strong. Talking to a woman is different than talking to a man. With women we
tend to be softer, and caring type of emotion words. With men, because they talk either matter of
factly, or strongly, depending on the situation. Men tend to be less emotional
as they talk.
Some women tend to take
exception to men in their lives, if their man talks softly to a woman. Thinking
it is more personal, when that is the furthest from the way the man means his
words. Maybe because men have been taught to be respectful of women and their
feelings. So it is a matter of up bring
by one’s parents.
I know I talk probably softer
when I talk to my daughter and daughter in laws… where has I have a sharper
tone when talking to my son’s. Never thought about it until recently, when
talking about the tone of one’s voice and words written.
But it would be true. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus…
and of course there is always the exception.
We won’t even talk about the
difference of men talking in the garage over working on a car as appose to
talking in public. Some times the same can be said of women when they are
solely among women.
MERRY CHRISTMAS....to you ALL...
We have been warned….
“You will shoot your eye out”, was the warning on the movie.. Christmas story…
And our parents.. mostly our
mothers, told us we will be deaf by the time we got to be her age..
Well, I made it pass that….
As she was in her 40’s… But as time is taking me by at full speed, I am
learning she was right.. just it was longer than what she thought.
Well, it was a week and half
AFTER Thanksgiving and it wasn’t ok.
I found out that I have to
have BOTH hearing aides in .. in order for a hearing aide to work
completely. I could hear with the one
better than I could with NONE.. but barely.
And it was great to get the
other one back as I can hear better. Not
great.. haven’t hear great for years..
About 10 years.. So .. ha ha.. Mom, I made it 20 years more than you thought.
What I have found out by going with only one and not hearing well, AT ALL.. that I join less conversations.. depended on computer and writing instead of talking.. Phone calls were horrible for both sides.. the caller and me. I left the phone answering to the King mostly.
I found myself, isolating
myself more. Not wanting to go anywhere,
if I was going to have to listen to anything.
It didn’t help that the King
would get upset with me as well.. until
he saw how frustrated I was, and he would apologize for it.
I even bought a cheap pair at
Walmart to try to get thru..It helped a little but it too was murder for
dealing with phones.
So for you young people..
take good care of your ears.. you only get one pair.. and hearing aides help..
but they are not that great.
Heading down the end of the year....
Here we are, heading down the
end of the year and on the last 5 days before the big blow out of presents…
Last minute thoughts of what to get. The race to find something, anything to
make the other people smile.. And hope
you got it right.
Also the season of yo yo
attitudes.. The feel good of the season..
so happy and yet fights over the shopping area, or toy you have to have
for your child.
I am a bah humbug Christmas person. So I will let you sort it all out.. Enjoy the madness of shopping, and cooking before the big day..
12-20-2021 lots of 2’s and 1’s
..
I did tell you I am not crafty, right?
Once again, I have proven, I am NOT a craft person. My youngest daughter keeps trying, but I just don’t have it.
My sweet husband wanted to do ginger bread houses with the boys.. I told him, he could, but count me out. I just don’t do well.
But yesterday, he dragged me screaming into it. He had bought the boxes of the kits. How hard can it be, he says. Well, when you see the results, you will understand how silly that reply is.
I got dragged in, because he
was going to help one of the boys and the poor little guy got stuck with
me.
I would tell you that I
followed the instructions but they were sadly not a very good one.. I think
they figured everyone knew how to do it.. here is the stuff to do it with. NOT…
First off there were no clear
pictures or words to what was what. So it was a guessing game for me.
Off we go, we see that they
painted the front and back with the red.
(look gawdy to me). Then they showed in the big picture how they were
stuck to gether. YEA, RIGHT. First of
all the red nor the green pastey stuff did not glue anything together. It keep falling apart. The clamps that the
King has in his garage came to mind but figure it would be over kill. Then the
lightbulb went off .. I had icing in the can in the pantry. So go that and smeared that baby. It started
to stay somewhat together. Leaning it
against the box. As I am doing my best …
I happen to catch out of the corner of my eye… the spatula we were using for
smearing the coloring on the ends, was swinging by me, on to the side
piece of ginger bread square. By my
sweet heart of a great grandson. He was swinging with such glee, (I lowered my
head in craft pain.. of oh shit) and I thought.. oh, well, this now has become
a tiny house, as I snapped the other side piece in half.. Ah a modern updated tiny house.. lol… I finally got the sides to all stay together…
I put frosting on the plate and stuck it on a plate, and poured out all of the
bags of beads, snowflakes and etc.. and slide the plate over to my sweet 2 and
half year old great grandson. I showed him to pick up the stuff with his
fingers and let them dripple on the house. Which he did with great glee.
Now on to the older boys
house, as the King had deserted the ship, when he could not get the sides to
glue together and they all collapsed.
And his had one side missing, so he too had snapped the side in half..
wa la.. another modern day tiny house..
Now this one was a challenge.
The sides did not exactly match. So it
was not only try to glue the sides together with the cake icing.. but also
filling in the gaps. Also this lovely
house had twizlers for the roofing. You
know like hard licorice. Once I got the
thing to stick together, which was a chore. (the sides keep trying to slide
in.) After taking the roof off
twice..and smeared frosting on the corners… and replace the roof.. I smeared
frosting all over the roof and every nook and cranny Slide the house over to the older one and
said have at it.. and remember do what ever you want to do…it is your
gingerbread house.. so put what you want.
He looked at me and said.. anything?
I said yes.. anything, how ever you want to .. it is yours to do ..
there is no wrong way, because it is yours to do.. The only one who has to like
it, is you.. ok.. OK, he said with great gusto.
And he did. He had the twizler
The Post Office even topped itself..
In the past years I have
complain about the USPS… I had sent a
package of George magazine to a friend.. It arrived from
I bought my daughter who
lived in Kelso
I sent a package to my
daughter in law and it went from
But this time .. the post office has outdone itself.
I bought a hoodie from my
cousin’s company. IN
And for those of you who are
not really sure where
I know better than to complain the USPS.. because they won’t even acknowledge my complaint.
They have by their own
admission said they were going to be slower, and more expensive.. but I think
this is over the top, when they send it over 6,000 miles round trip, out of its way.
Good luck getting your
Christmas package in time.
OH, I forgot the best part…
this package was sent PRIORY MAIL!!!
Day of sadness…..
Those of us over the age of
50.. remember this day .. before even Kennedy got shot. Very few are alive from those days of
December 7, 1941. The bombing of
While in school.. we learn
about it in History class. It was the worse thing had had EVER happen to the
United States of American. Even worse than World War One… First time any of our land had been bombed by
a foreign country.
As those of my own age see
that it is pushed aside.. somewhat downsized… with a few mentions in any
media… it saddens us.
Yes, there has been other
incident that have happen.. The killing
of Kennedys, Robert and John.. Martin
Luther King.. and of course the two bombings of the World Trade Centers.
But this day also had great sadness for our family as well… my sister in law.. the King’s sister committed suicide. Suicide as anyone will tell you, is a horror for any family. So many questions of, could you save them.. and the true answer most of the time is no.. With her.. in the note she did leave behind… her words there that stuck in my mind until this very day…. “Love is not enough”… for surely she knew she was loved by all who knew her.. So many friend who showed up at her celebration of life… her family.. and more.
There are so many groups for
suicide.. to help prevent.. for those who are thinking of it.. to call on… but I have yet to find an easy answer to any
of it..
Some say it is a selfish
act.. and it is easy to think that.. after all, we all would do anything. Yet
those who try and succeed never look but at that one dark moment, when all is
lost to THEM.. And as she said… Love isn’t enough.
But we still have to keep
trying to head it off.. for all those who will listen and stop.
For all of those who have
lost a friend, a family member, and others… our hearts go out to you. Considered yourself hugged..
And for those who are even thinking of it.. Please know.. there is love waiting for you.. please stop.
my favorite picture of her... vacation in Europe
Still miss you, kid....
So begins the STAFFHOOD ….
So he was an outside cat, who
lived in one of the sheds. A lover for sure..
Everytime she came out, he would curl up around her leg. Purring all the way..
He has been an outside cat…
used to silence .. with the exception of birds and wildlife around.. and the
two humans who lived in the house.
When we said we were ready to
get another cat.. Ours died about 6 years ago… and one kitty deal fell
thru… my daughter told us to come get
him.. he is a lover, she said.
So with cat litter in hand..
and a litter box from our sister in law… we went out to meet him. Mr no name…
And true to her word, he was a lover.. Happy to meet us.. purring and
going around our legs.. So we found a
carrying cage and brought him home.. He
was really leery of this vehicle that was taking him to God only knows where.
Once in the house.. he hid..
found him, pick him up and petting him, and him purring.. So not so much not liking us, but
scared. He hid in the litter box..
(well, at least he will know where to go, right?) Then the bathroom, and then the hall.. Every
time coming to me with no problem. Sat with him on the couch. And he relaxed
enough to sleep, but as soon as I moved.. he was up and GONE.. Behind our chairs, in the bathroom.. and
ended up back to hiding in the litter box.
Each time glad to let me pet him, but not liking the house except where
it was dark.
This morning, I found him under our bed.. When I called for him, after all the other places were empty.. and used a flashlight to look under the bed (only place left) .. he came out. He was happy to see me.. purred.. let me hold him and pet him. Sat on the couch with me.. but again.. gone under the bed again, when I moved. Came out later in the morning when I went in there.. So I picked him up and took him to the food. Which he had not eaten at other times. He had been drinking water, so that I was glad.. but with me standing there.. he ate the food.. I was happy for that. I showed him the litter box again.. but he backed up.. let me pet him.. talked to him.. and then GONE again.. to the bedroom..
Now when I go in there, he
comes out from under the bed. But doesn’t like to go to the living room.. so
again I figured it was the crowd voices..
I think he will be fine, once he gets that the voices are of no harm to
him..
I did order a covered bed for
him.. being he likes to be in dark
places.. hopefully it will make him feel more secure in the living room.
So once again… we are THE
STAFF… got to get a few toys.. and all should be good.
Here he is… KIT KAT…
for now at least..
These are scary times…..
Been seeing
some articles in news media on line… about
Now for
years we have all thought of
But what has been going on down there for the past week, or week and half… is damn right scary. I haven’t seen anything on the national news which is weird. But there is several stores down there that there is huge robberies. I mean huge… at least to me, when 80 !!! people run into a store and start grabbing merchandise and then leaving the story… a gang like robbery… that in my book is damn well scary. This is no mom and pop store.. these a huge stores.. Nordstrom (twice) Target, and Home Depot.
What the
hell is wrong with people. This is beyond entitlement attitudes. Some of these are just 5 or 10 people but the
one did have 80….. 80!!!! People going in and grabbing things and
running.. Not a riot situation.. like
some where they riot and burn stores.. This is out of the blue .. 5 to 80
people walk in to steal from a big box store?
What is going to be done about this? Don’t know.. Security from what I understand.. are not allowed to have guns? So shooting is out of the question.. and I can kind of understand, as from what I understand these people come in without guns.. Just walk up to the counter and grab.. I guess so far .. people have been so stunned that no one has done anything.
But I got
to ask you… WHAT IS THIS NATION COMING TO?
And has the
media (national television stations) decided not to report it, as they think
other will start doing it else where?
As so far this is only in
Here we are… ending the year
We have two
days left of November and then we hit December… and nearing the ending of 2021.
After
ending 2020… anything was to look better. This year lead to a somewhat loosing
up of lives. People could once again go visit relatives.. That they did this Thanksgiving. The highways
and airports were full this year.
Although kind of uneventful as there were no big stories of people being
stranded for days at airports because of the weather. So that is good.
We got to
drive down to see our kids in
We are
already setting up goals for next year. One of the major ones, is working on
the house. Some how we missed the
deterioratation of part of the side of our house. We don’t use that part
of our yard much at all…mostly for going from the back yard to the front, and I
am guessing we don’t look up very often. Otherwise we would have seen that the
paint is falling off the under part of our overhang of the roof. So that is number one on our list of doing
things.. Also we had decided to put
metal 4 feet up on the sides of the house. The King’s idea. His theory is .. it will help the paint.
Seems that there is a couple of areas where there is a lot of water damaged …
and even heat from the dryer, drying out the paint. His thoughts are if we metalize it… less
damage. Have to think this one out
really well, before we start that. We
did do that to our hot tub building.. and I have to admit, it does look
nice. But still got to think it out.
So this
year, was a learning curve for the nation…. Do we mask or not.. do we get the
shot or not.. And some really opinionated people, with their own ideas of it.
And sadly the government is trying to push one side down the other side’s
throat. Some states are saying no.. So we will see how this winter plays out.
Usually I
end a year with… “Well, there is
another year shot to hell” but somehow I
think 2020 can’t be topped for that.
BLESSED ARE WE WHO GET TO HAVE A ROOF OVER OUR HEADS.
BLESSED ARE WE WHO WILL HAVE PLENTY OF FOOD TO EAT..
BLESSED ARE WE WHO HAVE GOOD FRIEND AND FAMILY TO ENJOY IT WITH...
PLAIN OUT.. WE ARE BLESSED.
Some are not so blessed...
We think of our daily lives ..complain about one thing or another. be it politic, the world problems. We are complainers.. and some times we complain about what we don't have... just plain forget what we do have.
So for the next couple of days.. leave behind all that you argue about... complain about and take time out to enjoy the people around you..
And to those 3 people who I think about each year.... my cooks.. MY MOTHER, MY UNCLE TINY AND THE KING..who as always, is the cook here this year as in the past..
And most of all I think of Jo Brownell, who made thanksgiving so great in my teens... And my Aunt Harriet who made the best fried bread for breakfast on Thanksgiving mornings.
God bless... enjoy the day
Heading into Thanksgiving…
We are heading into
the big holidays.. Thanksgiving
up first. Then Christmas and topping it off with New
Years.
As we head into
Thanksgiving.. we think of what we are thankful for.. some other think BLACK FRIDAY.. Although
since as year.. Black Friday has changed. Don’t know if that Friday will be the
zoo it has been in the past. As a lot of the stores are running a Black Friday
almost every weekend.
But with
Thanksgiving coming up, we all should be thinking of what blessing we do have
in our lives. Surely last year gave us a great view of what loses there are to
be had.
So try to be
thankful for we each have in our lives. Be it family, friends, a job,
a home… Hopefully good health.
While sitting around
the table, leave your politics out in
the car. Even if some one tries to bring
it up, tell them that you would like to be just grateful for the people who are
sitting with you all.
Be sure to keep the
elderly at your table in the conversation..
Maybe when you are looking for a change of subject.. you might ask
Grandma or Grandpa about their past Thanksgiving.. Their best one and their
hardest one.. Might find some family history there.
So be kind to each
other… Enjoy the day, the food, and hopefully you have family to share it with
you.
If you are
alone.. there are some great places in
town that want to share with you.. Our
local one is the HOOT OWL… it is a mom and pop like restaurant. The owner, her
husband and daughter with her family come in and help cook and serve those who
show up. They have gone from about 100 to 500 now. So you wouldn’t be alone if you want to
venture out.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
FOLKS..
Weird sayings…..
A
zillion years ago. When I was about 4 or 5.. it was Christmas day, and I had
done something worthy of sending me to my room.. Which didn’t take much and
happen often.
My
dad came up to my room with a small ball of dough. I had gotten a stove and the
utensils… like rolling pin and etc. It
was before the little oven that actually did cook things. So it was just all for looks .. but for a
little 5 year.. it was a big deal. When
I asked my dad, where he got it.. he told me.. he got it from my mom, and
added.. I like getting her goat. Being
5 and knowing we had not got a goat yet…(did several years later).. I asked
where the goat was. He told me it was just a saying… and even though I had the
good sense not to ask, it made me wonder what the heck that meant. This came to mind a couple days ago. Forgot
what it was, but it reminded me of that moment of 75 plus years ago… So of course I googled it… and I got to be
honest.. I am more confused now than I
was then. What do you think.. do you
have an old saying that doesn’t make sense.?
To annoy someone, to make a person lose his or her tempe. This term is definitely American in origin, but its precise
provenance has been lost. H. L. Mencken was told that it
came from the practice of putting a goat inside a skittish racehorse’s stall in order to calm it down. Removing the goat
shortly before the race would upset the horse and reduce its chances of winning, a ruse supposedly planned by a
gambler who had bet on the horse’s losing. This explanation seems more farfetched than a possible connection of the
term with the verb “to goad.” In any event, it came into use about 1900.
Also .. I can’t tell you what I had for lunch yesterday,
but I can tell you about a saying my father used 75 years ago.. not that too is
funny
Christmas lights…
Do you have your Christmas lights
up on your house? When do you put yours
up?
We have ours up year around and
about this time of the year, I check to see what is still working.
Why do we have them up year
around? Because it is a pain to string them each year.. like we use to.. and
usually freezing our fingers off. Or worse yet, there is 3 feet of snow to
tromp thru. We also have a hang over
eave, so one doesn’t notice them unless one is looking for them.
Last year we put a timer on
them.. So they go one after dark and then you time them for how long you want
them on. We started at 6 hours.. but down sized it to 4.
But the funny part was.. I forgot it was on a timer.. Because it
doesn’t get dark until after 9 in the summer. I had disconnected the front
fence ones, as we use the gate to get the lawn mower in the yard.. And at 9, we are in the house… maybe
watching tv with the curtains pulled.. or even have gone to bed, depending on
what kind of day we have had.
Well, some where near July…I
happen to notice a colorful glow in the back deck… and there they were the
Christmas lights.. lighting up our back door deck.. LOL..
Then I figure .. oh what the heck… I just down size it to 2 hours..
Also we found out by having the
lights up year around.. if some one is coming over after dark and have not been
here before… we just tell them.. we are
the one with Christmas lights on… and we
turn them on so they can find out house.
What size picture are you?
I am not a huge picture person..
biggest I like is 5x7.
I don’t carry pictures anymore in
my wallet.. so I just do wall pictures.
Or I have some stuck up in the window of my dish cabinet, so the next size down
is perfect for that one.… but
please oh please ..
NEVER EVER….send me a 8x10 or larger… I have no room .
Same with regular pictures.. you
know, some one will buy you a picture of some scenery for your home.. Please don’t.
I have no wall room…
I see those who have a nice
fairly long hall with pictures on that.. and that is cool.. but I don’t have
that… I have one huge frame with multi
squares and in those is my kids with their spouses, in my tiny hall…. I sure don’t have enough walls for all of my grand children and great grandchildren unless it is the 3x4 or what ever they are.. and they are the ones up on my dish cabinet..
as not all send pictures… group pictures are WONDERFUL.. lol.
How about you? do you
love the huge ones?
Have had some troubles with my computer... so sent it in to the shop..
I have a great to-go- guy. So it gets done quickly and he has patience with an old lady.
So doing without a computer for the day... Well, usually it isn't a big deal... I have plenty to keep me busy. But after I sent it to the shop, I forgot I had sent off an email, which I was going to be getting an answer. So then it became a little more than just staying off the computer.
I have a tablet, but I am here to tell you, I have little patience with it.. Only good part of it is.. when pecking out a answer to anything.. it does.... half way thru the word, a pop up word that I might be typing.. so I only have to click on that and not have to type out the whole word.. Also the tablet seems to have a whole lot of cool emoji that my laptop doesn't. So will miss those.. Also I have a lot more on my laptop than on my tablet.... like my email site and etc. sure limited me for the day.
But I am glad to be back in the saddle again..
I have found being with out a computer to be like the day you tell someone .. "oh, yea, go ahead and use the car for the day, I am not going anywhere.. " Ever do that? and found 50 things you would do with the car after they left... well it is kind of the same thing as putting the computer in the shop.
I don't know how the younger generation does it on their phone.. 1. it is a lot of peck typing even with the help of auto word.. and 2. also the dang screen is so small.. I have a 15 inch laptop.. and I need all 15 inches of it. lol..
I am not fun any more….
I am thinking I am getting to
be boring.. not bored, but I am boring.
I
am not fun anymore. I don’t do fun things and worse yet, is I don’t want to do
anything. Just piddle around here.
I
don’t think I am depressed. As I don’t feel depressed. I am happy for the most
part. I think what might be getting me
down is other people. Lol.. Not
everyone. But in general. I just don’t feel like putting in the extra effort
with most of them. Sounds bad doesn’t
it. But you see a lot of people seem, well, like they want to talk about some
subjects and that end up with arguing. That isn’t how I use to live my life.
Arguing. Discussions .. even different
points of view from time to time. But not arguing.. more like .. wow never thought of it like that? Not changing my mind or theirs .. respecting
my friends enough to know they didn’t always think like I did. And that was ok with
both of us.
But of late .. I have come up with an attitude .. I think they had a song in the 80’s about it.. It was something like You are right, you win… I forgot the name of the song. Anyway, it has been interesting to see the looks on some faces when I stop them with.. ‘ you know you could be right about that.. and then I change the subject.. I don’t believe in what they are saying.. just it is easier to just drop it.. they are hell bend on their opinion and I am going not going to be able change it…it is too much effort and I have better things to do. but it is kind of like letting the winds out of their sails. It isn’t important to me any more to be right. I believe what I believe and that is between me and my maker.
I think what 2020 did for me.. it I don’t have time for b.s. Life is too short. At my age, I sometimes wonder how much time do I have. After all, a lot of people don’t get to live this long. Guess God still has a need for me down here to make a difference for others. But I sure wish he would show me how to have more fun at it.
Maybe
the answer is to have less to do with the angry people.. they bring others
down. And that means me too.
So
will look more for the Roses in the world and not the thorns.
I miss having fun. Being the 79 year old great grandmother who ran races in the yard against my great grandson and getting to the end… and saying I WON… and the times he would beat me and be beaming… with I WON, I BEAT YOU..NANA.. those were great days.. Got to find my groove again.
Food does not cause fat. And Life is not fair…
I know …. We all think that and even say it from time to time.. I have one son who use to say.. ‘IT’S NOT FAIR”. Said it so much that I thought he would grow up to be a lawyer. He didn’t.
“How old were you, when you found
out Xxxxx ..” which is some fact that we got to know thru
our lives. How old were you when you
found out that dogs aren’t the only ones to have fleas … type of question.. Most of the time it is a fact that most of us
did not know, and the answer you put is your age because you did not know it
before.. So my question is… How old were you, when you found out that men
do not pee their pants when they cough, laugh too hard, or sneeze and etc… Like all of us women have over the
years.. and my answer is 81… because it
just dawned on me last week…
All of us
women go into the stance of crossing your legs as you stand to keep from peeing
your pants when you laugh too much …. Sneeze
or even and mostly… coughing your head off. Well, last week I went into the stance and
my husband the King, laughed.. Laughed
hard. I told him, just wait until you
start coughing hard, then you will be doing the same… and that is when he hit me hard…..with… I don’t
do that… men don’t do that… and I went like the commercial…WHAAAAAATTTTTTTTT?...
then it dawn on me, he is right.. I have never seen a man go into the stance!!!
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THAT??? That just
isn’t fair. …..
Then
another one that hit me.. which I did already know, is that during this two
weeks….I have hardly ate anything. A
small half sandwich.. a cup of soup.. a
half cup of oatmeal cereal… a piece of
chicken.. and half a cup of mash potatoes.
That kind of stuff… 2 FLAMING
WEEKS AND LOST NOT ONE POUND!!! So I
have come to the conclusion… that food does not make you fat.. What does? I don’t know…
The other
thing is.. 2 weeks so far of coughing my head off.. some times more violent
than others.. but at least 30 or more times a day.. and partly thru the night..
no matter what meds.. Now my gut hurts from all of this coughing.. Sooooooo…
you would think I would have great
abs. Not the old flabby belly of an old lady…
LIFE IS NOT
FAIR…
Some days are nice and quiet... and it only takes a flick of the mind and eyes to catch wonderment.
This morning as I was taking the garbage out, a flick of light caught my eye on the deck... And almost missed a moment....
You know, a moment that life stands still and God shows you something of beauty. Something that in our rush of things, we zoom by.. Like the saying ... we don't stop and smell the roses...
We don't stop and see the beauty of life in a simple of things.. a leaf.. not just any leave.. but the perfect leave of little color, so we would miss it normally... but this leaf caught my eye.. not just the leave but to drops of rain that sat within shining in the sun... showing natures beauty..
Hope you are stopping today to take in the beauty of the small things in life.
