Canada actually has out done us...

We all know about Spitzer and Wiener of New York.
There are many stories of Congress men, acting badly.
Now we have a Congressman from Florida who was found on drugs. And of course the many, many Congressmen who have been found drunk over the years.  Even a local city south of us, had their own council person acting badly... and even to the south west of us. Our government officials have nothing  to brag about being squeaky clean.

But believe it or not.. Canada has out done our government guys. Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto. Stripped of his powers of Mayor, by a 34 to 5 vote. 5 people after hearing he does crack, buys crack by his own admission..... has the most unusual behavior.. and those 5 still thought
he should keep his powers of Mayor!!  He has refused to step down, and for some reason the council can't get rid of him until next fall when they have their next election. Or at least one of the councilmen told a reporter.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks he looks like Rush Limbaugh?

This buffoon, admits to doing crack, and so many other things.. and at the council meeting that was going to strip him of his powers.. he ended up running like a girl around a series of people in chairs, rounds the corner and knocks over a woman council person...  as the gallery yells
"shame, shame, shame.   And he is recorded at the council meeting while someone else is talking.. doing antics of a person driving and drinking drunkenly, not just once but several times...making fun of a fellow council person.. Like he a lot of room to criticize.

As I was watching all of this on the news and later on the Daily Show, I thought how it looked like some bad comedy show.. and people were laughing on the Daily Show... and I am sure there were lots laughing in the homes who watched these antics...  And of course, those of us in the good old USA, laugh, and think.. wow.. and we thought our guys

were bad. This guy makes ours look like choir boys.

Maybe some peace and quiet?

Today is Tuesday... election day...
Which locally is almost non day...
We have two council persons running for office..
with no one running against them.  So it will be
interesting to see how many of the good people
will show up to vote.

And this is sad, as I don't know of anyone running on
the county election.. so will see what is on the paper when
I get there.  There was plenty of others running in the other
cities and a couple of close races..

We get Spokane channels for our television viewing...so
there is plenty to see, for who wins what in the state of
Washington... I don't recall who is running for what..
but there is one really high profile law that is going to
get voted on... 522... that is the number we have been
bombarded with commercials for the past couple of months.

That is one I am interested in seeing how it does.. The
committee for it.. have been way under funded compared to
those who don't want it... By a thousand dollars per one dollar that the yes people have.  It is the bill for the labeling GMO food...  The No people have been less than truthful.  And because of that, I am afraid it will fail...

The Yes people have brought out their guns in the past week.
But don't know if it will do any good.  The main reason it will
fail, is because many think it was poorly written.  And they
could be right..  If I lived in Washington state, I would vote
yes, and correct some of the exceptions in the bill later.
But  I am afraid that the vote will throw out the baby with the
bath water..  Meaning rather than fix some of the exception,
they will vote no.. And why that bothers me is.. I am afraid
that other states will not try the bill, feeling the people aren't
interested.

I personally have been watching the GMO project. I have
heard some horror stories about people getting sick. I have
a friend who has family in North Dakota, where there is a lot
of GMO corn... and they have lost 1/3 of their bees in their
hives before they found out it was because of the GMO
corn.
I want to know what is in my food... The company that is practicing this.. has spend an awful lot of money to protect
their products.. one such bill was to have it so people can't sue them if they get sick from it. I don't know if they got it passed yet. They pretty well have the federal  government sewed up with protecting their rights.

Yet there are at least 67 countries or more, that have made it where it has to be labeled... 67 countries can't all be wrong.

Some people have said... they figured what they don't know, doesn't hurt them... kind of reminded me of the old movie Stephen King movie Soylent Green.

But what ever the outcome.. we will have some quiet time after the dust settles.  And God help us next year...

It is another band aid...

Well, are you happy with the new opening of the government
back up? Or are you just disgusted with the carrot that is held
out front again for the nation? The band aid to get it over to
January?
You know, how the farmer held out a carrot on the stick for the donkey
to keep going down the furrow.

The only good I see of what happen for the past 16 days, is that the
tea party candidates feel a little smart feeling. And I am not talking about intelligence. I am talking about the sting kind.

What part of the Affordable Care is here to stay, don't they get?
What 43 or more times they brought it up to be defeated...and got
defeated themselves.. Then blackmail the country to shutting down
the government with only Affordable Care as their item to discuss.
It didn't happen.  All they did was show the country what ass's they
are. Unless they were trying the Chinese torture...one drop/vote at
a time.

What is the saying.. the definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results ...

Party? What Party?

I am sure that like myself, you are tired of this
b.s. in Washington, DC.  So much standing in
in front of the television cameras with bumbling
words.  On both sides.

So here we are, what 29 more hours and then we
find out who is playing chicken and who flinches.
They say they are speaking for the American's.
They are so into watching themselves on the
televisions, they surely can't be watching how the
citizens are reacting. Or they would be in there
getting their act together.  What part of "Affordable
Care, is not up for discussion" don't the Republican's
get. Sure there must be some sane ones there who
get that and have a voice.  Get it together.. work on
Affordable Care after.  Fine tune it later.. Let's get
with the rest of the decisions. Mainly, the debt ceiling.
Talk about a do nothing Congress.

In the old days, the Republicans and the Democrats
use to try to get along some what.. That is why Tip
O'Neal and Reagan got along... Kennedy with McCain
and many more, way before any of them.

But this Republican party they have now.. has split
so many ways... I think there should be truth in parties. Meaning.. they shouldn't all run under the same umbrella when they can't get along with each other. Let them stand out there on their own.

There should be... the Democrats, the Republicans,
the Tea Party, the Conservatives, and what ever else
the Republican party has hid under that umbrella.
Because I am sure there are a lot of old time
Republicans who are shaking their heads, and even
have their heads hanging low with all these others
invading their party.  It would be really interesting, if
they would all run under the headline of their interest,
instead of hiding under the elephant.  And really would any of them really get any real votes if they did?

I saw on the news this morning, that there is a survey
that shows a wide berth in the middle.. really wide berth, of people of this nation who are sick and tired of both parties. They showed 1/4 Democrats(blue), 1/4 Republicans (red) and a grey area in the middle that was half of the voters who want no part of either party.
I am sure today, they are even more so.. and who knows how many from each side will jump to the middle?  I jumped there over 13 years ago.. with my joking of the Cafeteria Party... but now it is hard to find anything on either side to pick from.

So let's have truth in the parties... If you don't believe whole heartily in what that party represents, then get
you own.  And the Republicans should kick them out
of their party.. after all they are giving the Republicans a bad name...

ALL OVER, BUT THE SHOUTING????

NOT HARDLY...  Some think that a compromise is coming this week.

Well, with part of the Congress who decided Columbus Day was a big enough holiday, to leave town.. it doesn't sound like they have the shut down in mind.  More like get out of Dodge while they are still able.

Even if you believe that the compromise is coming.. do you realize it isn't the shut down they are talking about? No, it is only the raising up of the national debt they are talking about agreeing on.  And that is only for a short

time.. weeks..

Kind of like the carrot in front of the donkey, to keep him going. Or Lucy with the football, waiting for Chuck to run up to it.

This is what our government has become.  No more decisions that last for years.. not even a

year.. These clowns that we all call Congressmen/women... can't decide or agree on much that will last for a year or more.  Each time they scare the daylights out of the elderly, make the vets wonder, and all of the rest of citizens of the United States mad as hell.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... they are on the ship of fools...  Making agreements at the last possible minute or later.. and no conscience of what they have put the citizens of the nation thru.. only the selfish

meandering of their own existence.  Then have the guts to brag about how they help end the mess they made in the first place

These people make me sick... and our nation of short term memories, won't remember this come election time.

Held Hostage once again..

Here we go again... the country and it's tax payers are
being held hostage once again... by the welfare bums of
Congress.

After all who else who lives in American can decided their own benefit package, their own wages and raises... and live off of the common man, more than your state Congress person we send off to Washington, D.C.

Yet here they are, once again.. holding us hostage to their whims of black mailing their fellow Congress person of the other parties.

Neither party is anything to brag about. One is just as bad as the other.

Is it me, or does it seem like they have done this more in the past 10 years then they have ever done before. Or was I too busy raising kids to know that this is a yearly sport of Congress.

I wish I could blame it on the clowns from California, or Nevada.
But this time around...one of the head clowns who is
in this circus.. is our very own Mr. Labrador of Idaho, who has decided to black mail the Democrats with, he will shut down the government unless Congress will throw out Obama Care.  Talk about ship of fools.

We all know the routine.. strutting up in down in front of the camera's and threats to the citizens who can least afford it the most... are left wondering if they get to eat after the first of the month.  Putting the elderly thru anxiety attacks... Which isn't it the 18th Amendment
that is against cruel and unusual punishment. Such punishment as would amount to torture or barbarity, any cruel and degrading punishment not known to the common law. Don't you think this applies to what they

do to the taxpayer each time they pull this crap?

And of course, at the 11th hour... Congress pulls their heads out of the dirt (you thought I was going to say the other, didn't you) and come to an agreement........... until next time.

So for the next two weeks  we will have to listen to this crap. But I am not...  I will wake up Oct. 2nd and watch the news and see how it went..  And hope my SS check came in on the 1st.. like it is suppose to.  Until then, I guess it is Duck Dynasty with the King.

You and me, and the IRS...

June 13, 2013
You and me, and the IRS…

Nothing makes any one of us shake in our shoes like the
mere mention of the IRS. Even before you open the envelope to see what they have to say, you are shaking in your shoes.
Your heart starts to beat like a Gene Kupra drum.
Unless, of course, if it is a refund check.

So to me.. it was kind of funny that those who scream like a banshee over the tea party and such who were having such a bad time with the IRS… it is like, give me a break.. who hasn't?

*The IRS was started by Lincoln (a Republican) to cover the Civil War.
Then 7 years later it was done away with. Then at the turn of the century some wonderful people decided we need income tax for building up our military.. We hadn't even gotten into World War I.
And then it became the 16th Amendment.  Before that, the government got enough money to pay for everything from tariffs, tax on liquor and tobacco. And sugar.  Sugar? Why sugar, I wonder..

Anyway, the abuse of the IRS by Presidents and his people goes way back.. Franklin Roosevelt was one of them.. keeping tabs on newspaper publisher, Hearst and
about 4 or 5 more influence people.
Then of course, the biggest one was J. Edgar Hoover… and even Kennedy. All Democrats, you say..
Not so fast… The Republican did their share.
Nixon being the worse one, he even set up a special service staff, to do his dirty work.  He was even charged in the impeachment for “seeking confidential information contained in income tax returns, for purposes not authorized by law”

So, for everyone to get upset about it now.. I find ironic… and where were all these righteous Republicans, when the common man goes in for an audit for the last 80 years?

Oh, by the way.. the young lady who was in front of the committee and said she wasn't going to answer any questions and walked out.. I wonder.
If a citizen was in the office of an examiner being drilled over their income and tax exempts.. decided to say to that examiner… Sir/Ma’am, I am not going to answer these questions, and walked out… how far would that
Citizen get?  Maybe home, but not for long…I think selling off assets and maybe jail time, might follow John Q. Citizen.  Oh, I read somewhere, they are trying to fire her….. and she refuses to go.  How does that work?

*info found on several online sites.

You got to be kidding...

As those of you who read by blog know, I have given up on the political scene for the most part.. Doesn’t mean I don’t dabble from time to time to see what the parties are up to.. dabble is all I dare do, as it is so repulsive most of the time.

So while I had some down time over the weekend, I hit on the CPAC. For those like me.. who didn’t know what that stands for. It stands for ….
The Conservative Political Action Conference…which I guess is a get together for the conservatives.. AND they decide to elect officials around the United States…to spread their word… On the several sites I tapped into, had the who’s who of the Republican party. Except I didn’t see the
only Republican I consider even looking into, so far.. Christie from New Jersey. Don’t know what he did to make the Republican Gods mad.. but he was a subject
of ridicule from one of the hatemongers. Talk about eating your own…And some guy name Terry Scott who thinks slavery is just fine? That is when I had to leave the sites…

Really???? Do the some of these Republican’s really believe that? I can only hope and pray that this is just some radical… Any way, the meanness in my
thought as I tapped thru these different sites.. too bad we couldn’t have all these people stay in one town and run their town …compound like… they want and leave the rest of us people alone… I know that isn’t a very good thing to say.. but I am disgusted with these people… and to scare the real crap out of you..THESE PEOPLE NOT ONLY VOTE… BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU HOW TO VOTE..  I mean get real people.. when one of the people invited
to their gathering is Donald Trump… give me a break…  Yes, keep them all together and don’t let them spread this vile on the rest of us.

Well, there is 15 minutes I won’t get back of my life…. Got to go.. there is so much out there that is good, don’t want to give any more to this stuff…

Where have all the good candidates gone?

To borrow from Pete Seegar…. Hope he doesn't mind my change of words..
where have all the candidates gone.. (to the tune of where have all the flowers gone)

Where have all the good candidates gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the good candidates gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the good candidates gone?
Republicans and the Democrats have picked them,
every one,
And we are stuck with them…

When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

I live in a flaming red state… where a Republican
has never met a Republican they didn't like..  That
they vote them in, no matter how bad they are.

Years ago, each one had some pretty great guys
who ran and won. Those who cared about this country
first and foremost.  Yes, they all were put down at
the time they were in office… some even got shot…
But they were good men.. who were more concern
with protecting our country and its
people. And not the party first and foremost.
The Lincoln’s, Roosevelts’s, Kennedy’s, Truman
and such.

Now days, all we have is bumbling clowns…
who are so far up the parties tail end, that they have
forgotten that you and I are here, trying to make it
in our own little world.

We have congress people who have never really
had a job. They have been in congress for 20 to 30
years.  Some of them never have filled their cars up
with gas… nor bought groceries.  Have accountants
who do their paper work for them.. pay their bills
for them. They don’t have a clue how to pinch a
penny… give up one thing because they have other
things that are priority. They say trillion like we say twenty.
How can they relate to our problems? Our lives and
what we can do and can’t do, other than them making
laws against most of it.  And we have no control over
them.. They don’t even have the decency to even
mention cutting their wages, or even more important,
their benefits.

They pass a law on healthcare that it
is mandatory that each American HAS to
have, yet they exclude themselves. What is with that..
maybe they aren't Americans. They talk about how
the elderly have to tighten up their budgets…
schools have to do theirs.. and the military has to
tighten up theirs.. Police, fire departments, hospitals,
nursing homes… but why, oh
why, is there never even a mention of their monies?

When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Another 4 years ....

All the pomp and stance of yesterday, even with disillusions, still was a wonderful day… It makes you feel proud to be an American.

I know there are millions out there who didn’t watch, or watch cussing. Which is sad as it is our process.  The people voted… Obama won by electoral as well as by the majority.  It is the process we have had for over 200 years.  And be it your party wins or the other.. it is still America.  Millions who showed up to watch, of all nationalities.. and those who watched it by the way of the media. Be it television, computers and etc.   They said it was the most electronic recorded Inaugural in history, with the millions there with phone cameras, pad/tablet  camera and etc.  Putting pictures in real time on Facebooks and blogs and sites.

Now today we are back to whatever amounts to normal for our country. And we wonder what the next 4 years will bring. Let us pray that Congress and the President will find a common ground for the citizens of America, instead of sticking in the rut of party loyalty.

We use to think that we hoped that our future was judged and shaped by Congress and the President, but it is also shaped by other countries.. more so now than before.. being we have spread ourselves thru other countries, with helping them and accepting financial help from them… once we entangled our finances thru theirs we have put ourselves at risk.

May we get stronger to bring back our factories, companies that have fled, to make it so we stand strong on our own.. To be able to pay back from those we borrowed.

I can wish can’t I?

Government 101

I am always spouting off about Government 101… about how Congress has more power than the President..   About how Congress can come up with a bill and pass it, send it to the President… even if he veto’s it.. they come back with 2/3rd of a vote and they can make it a law… And if the President wants to pass a bill, Congress can table it, put it in committee  or just flat out throw it away.   Those who read my blog often, have heard me say this more than once.

Well, folks, I stand corrected.. I guess I forgot to read the fine print.. and why someone didn’t correct me, I don’t know. Or at least heavily remind me

What I forgot was the less known, hardly even talked about until Obama came to President.  I am talking about Executive Order.  Yes, many of the different Presidents have used it. The two that come to mind is Bush’s two…(I am sure he had more) about Homeland Security and giving the right to the President to declare war.  The last one, made me angry. No so much that Bush could.. which didn’t make me happy… but for whoever becomes President in the future.. Why anyone let that one pass beats me.

What I wonder now… got to research it… is there anyway that Congress can over ride the President’s Executive Order?  Other wise… what is the sense of sending anyone to Congress? I thought the government order was check and balances thru the different sections.

Also I like to see Executive Order either limit to 2 a term or gotten rid of all together.
But I live in the never-neverland, I guess.

I found this... by the way, Executive Order goes back to the days of Washington.

Executive order

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

legal conflicts

To date, U.S. courts have overturned only two executive orders: the aforementioned Truman order, and a 1995 order issued by President Clinton that attempted to prevent the federal government from contracting with organizations that had strike-breakers on the payroll.[9] Congress was able to overturn an executive order by passing legislation in conflict with it during the period of 1939 to 1983 until the Supreme Court ruled in Immigration and Naturalization Service v. Chadha that the "legislative veto" represented "the exercise of legislative power" without "bicameral passage followed by presentment to the President."[10] The loss of the legislative veto has caused Congress to look for alternative measures to override executive orders such as refusing to approve funding necessary to carry out certain policy measures contained with the order or to legitimize policy mechanisms. In the former, the president retains the power to veto such a decision; however, the Congress may override a veto with a two-thirds majority to end an executive order. It has been argued that a Congressional override of an executive order is a nearly impossible event due to the supermajority vote required and the fact that such a vote leaves individual lawmakers very vulnerable to political critic.

So…2/3rds of Congress can override it…. But getting THIS Congress to agree on anything?  Good luck with that. ]

No matter which side of the aisle

No matter which side of the aisle you stand on,

you got to be pretty disgusted with Congress.

We sit here and wonder where are they leading us

and why are we following.  I guess the reason why

we are following is, because we have no other choice.

At least for another year or so. The midterm election.

And even then, the sheep will still vote for the same wolves.

Seems that we rather cuss the rut, then change it.

Myself, I gave up on these soap operas that Congress drags

us thru time after time.. the buffoon of actions the two

parties dance thru…taking senior citizens heart thru hell.

Last time they did it.. there was talk if there would even

be Social Security checks for the elderly.  What cruelty.

So this past time, I refuse to read or watch anything on it.

Kind of irritated my friends. They could not get me to have

an opinion… meaning they couldn’t bring me down with them

in an argument.  They didn’t seem to be very happy for the

last few months… but I was fine..

Have to remember to do that more often.. ha-ha

For some reason, Wall Street seems to be pretty happy, after

all it went up 300 points just with the news of the passing of

some of the cliff bill.  I don’t know why, as no one else is.

One of the reasons why I didn’t invest time into this mess,

was because I knew how ever it went down, it was not going

to be for the people… one way or another, we would be paying

more. And we will.  The other thing is.. what else is on that bill?

No one is saying.. they never do… but I don’t know a bill that

hasn’t had its own load of pork on it…come together like pork

and beans .

And that is what you and I will be eating… it will be the only

thing we will be able to afford………maybe.
