YEAH, WE GOT A FREE HOT TUB…

YEAH, WE GOT A FREE HOT TUB…

Not so fast… while the item is free… there is a mere
little thing of set up…  you know… where to put it and what do you need to get it there, AND running…

The King brought home his free hot tub.. we was tired of the blow up one we have… and decided he wanted the real deal. And lo and behold, his buddy’s mother in law wanted to get rid of hers…   So in he drives with his pride and joy on his little trailer…  All is good.. so far…

Next, picking a spot was fairly easy. We have had a pergola for about 7 years and haven’t used it for about 2. So that would be the idea spot… So what do we need to set it up.
Oh, that is where it gets to be a sticky point.

On the list is a slab (which he decided would be a cement one. And there is the mere thing of getting 220 wiring out there. We have 110 for a couple years..

That is where the work started.. And he worked for 3 weeks like a busy beaver off and on.. Mere little thing like financing of it. Piece by piece.  He did do all the leveling, framing and etc by himself.  We got the finances together for the slab. And he had the cement delivered as he and his best buddy did the moving of it across the area.. The truck did not reach the area, so that meant filling up wheel barrows and dumping it… I moved some .. and after dumping his buddy would smooth it over and move some more..  8 wheel barrows I believe, later.. it was all there…. And they worked on it …back and forth.. smoothing.. scrapping.. and it was done… Misty decide to try it out, and SANK.. so back to smoothing and scrapping and it was ready to go and Misty was bathed…  Misty snuck back out 20 minutes later and left her approval mark.. like she did with the sidewalk.

Three days later, he and his buddy put the hot tub on the slab. And fill it up with water… checked for leaks.. One tiny one… fixed that..

Next up was the wiring..  So while we are figuring how we are going to finance that part, he worked on laying of pvc pipe, in ditching area, and up the side of the garage, into the garage and over the other side to the switch box.  And running a small rope like string thru it…so he could pull the wiring thru…  After all that, he got enough money put together to get the wire.   And we had enough, as he kind of took the wrong numbers for how many feet… luckily not too much (20ft over).  So it was gathering of the wire (4 strands), straighten it out to be fed thru the pvc pipe… I had mention a week before, did he think it was big enough.. Oh, YA… NO PROBLEM… lol. While the wire fit down the tubing easy, it DID NOT feed thru the elbow areas.... EASY.. in fact not at all.. Back to the black board of digging up the tubing in one area.. disconnecting in another area.. which I had mention I didn’t think it was a good idea to GLUE the connections until they got the wire thru.  It took him all day to get the long piece thru and to the box…(with a lot of cuss words). So it was now in the area of the big box and to the breaker box on the pergola.  Next up is the underground … under the slab.. thru the same type of tubing… a lot of pushing, turning, pulling.. thru the 10 foot area… Luckily the grandson showed up. As we needed his muscles to pull the rope thru.. with the King pushing and twisting on the other end.. 40 minutes and sore hands.. on both of them. It made it thru..  He was thrilled… tired but thrilled.   The next day, his buddy comes over (electrician) and puts it all where it needs to go.. connects each end.. and the moment of silence, as he pushed to on button. Nothing.. Oh, have to push the button down for 3 seconds.. YAHOO.. IT IS HUMMING ALONG… pushes the jets.. YAHOO.. bubbles…  he was thrilled.. filter in…  as he proclaims.. I AM GOING TO BE IN THIS TONIGHT…  And he has enjoyed it every night since…

Next up is finding the money to put up privacy walls.. we decided on partial wall and part lattice , so we can see the sky. But that is going to wait..  bamboo shades will do for now.   But so far we have a little over a $1000.00 into it.. but he is one happy camper.. and I got to admit, it sure makes these old bones feel better.

yes, I know what day this is.. and there will be enough written and shown on all kinds of media... but today is also the birthday of two of my family members.... and I chose the joy of celebration of both of them which was long before this date became  tragic
