Good bye October???

Good bye October???

Seems like we were just saying good by September and hello October.. and here we are with only 3 more days left of October…

So I guess it is GOOD BYE OCTOBER… and what the HEY, IT IS NOVEMBER ALREADY?   Well, I guess I can look at it this way.. that means I am a month closer to Spring.

Next week, when I come to post my first November page, there will be so many changes. 1. Halloween, of course… and will it be normal?   2. It is the weekend we change the clocks back… As Sunday, November 1st is the day. And then the day my post goes up will be election day.. The last day to vote. It might be counted later.. but the 3rd is the finally day.  So many have mailed in, taken and dropped off at drop off places, and there are a lot of took advantage of the early voting.  People standing in lines for HOURS..some up to 11 HOURS… it is that important to them.  I truly am glad to see that.. And God bless those who have stood in line for so long. I am not sure I would.. I have a low tolerance for waiting. So you all are my hero’s and I see you take it seriously.  Then there are those who will show up on the 3rd.

Of course we know we will not know the winner for days passed. How close will it be?  This nation is more divide than any other time in my life time of 80 years.

So I tell you… like every election year, that I have told you GET OUT AND VOTE.  I really don’t care who you vote for.. you might knock my vote out.. I don’t care… if you vote for whom you really believe in.

It is no secret that I don’t like Trump… but I would almost be ok with him winning if we could get rid of Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.. I will dance a happy dance if I see on the news he lost.. Lindsay Graham lost would be icing on the cake…   but things don’t look good for a lost for McConnell.. can’t believe his states people want him back… it is known that he hasn’t done anything for them.. but with politics you just never know..

What I knew to be true before 2015…

What I knew to be true before 2015…

I have just finished the book called Disloyal… by Michael Cohen.. who was Trump’s personal lawyer… Before and after the election.

He starts out the book with the sentence of disclaimer… “After or during reading this book, you will not like me”…  And he is pretty close to right. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him, it was more I was disgusted that a person would do the things he did.  All for power and greed on the lower level.. which he admits.  He also talks about being ashamed of what he did. How disgusted his wife and children were with him.  He apologizes a great deal to them.

Then he proceeds to tell us all, what and how he did and how he ended up in the web called Trump.  From the beginning when he did a small job for Trump and did it for free… which became a routine of Trump’s.  The end is when he went into disgraces of lowering himself to the point of not even recognizing himself..  And once he started .. became a target of Trump.

I have read several books about Trump, not the Woodward one tho.  I found John Bolton’s to be of great interest of how the White House politics works. I never saw the show called West Wing… maybe if I had, I wouldn’t be surprise at the back biting, and belittling of others there.  But I guess that is in any office across America… come to think of it.  But the book was more of a lesson in government.  It was of interest to me about Trump and how he handle Ukraine situation… as he was in the room during the conversation. I wasn’t expecting much..

I found the niece’s book more interesting. And it backed up my thoughts of the family behind Trump.  As I always thought Trump’s father was an ass. I read thru out the years, different magazine articles about Trump. Before the election.  Most of it was about the time he was doing his tv show. I didn’t like the show because he was arrogant and braggart. But she goes further in to the upbring of Trump and his siblings.  I guess in a way you can think of Sr. Trump as the culture of old Germany.  PreHilter. Where fathers were pretty rough on their sons… and not much better on their daughters.  And because he was such an ass, his oldest son became an alcoholic.  He as an adult to have a life of his own.. and he actually was doing pretty well, but the father made fun of him. Calling him a airplane taxi driver (he had his own flying company)  Worked hard to get inside the son’s head and destroyed him. Making him come back to the family.  And Trump was brought up as the Golden child by not only his father but his mother as well. But even he got the tongue lashings and put downs. Making Donald work harder to please his father. So found that book to be interesting.  Some of the other books were ok, but to me they really didn’t get to the core.

Before 2015 and the election, my knowledge of Trump was interesting and disgusting at the same time. I didn’t care for him to start off, because he would show up to different movie stars and some political parties with his first wife on his arm.. Always positioning himself to walk in front of the camera’s covering the event. Or come around in the background..  He was a name dropper.. I took him to be what I call a ‘WANT TO BE” That is someone who wants to be a member of the club (no matter what club) and does anything to be or try to show others he is.

Then there was the Apprentice… another blowhard, arrogant, name dropping show case.. but this time he is the star…

At about that time.. second year, I think.  Stories started to pop up.  Talks of his water company, his shirt company, his steak company… all went bankrupt.  Also how his N.J. casino was a bust.   (I also remember the stories of the dirty tricks he did to get that put in) .. Slowly stories were coming out of the woodwork.

Somewhere around there, was his first attempt for the elections.. but got mostly laughed out of it.  His desperate need to push Obama’s birth certificates lies.

But in late 2014 he got serious about the election.. he and about 17 others. We were all laughing. .  Then watched in horror as good men went to the way side.. and he won.    Even after all the stories of his bankruptcies, the manhandling of sub contractors and etc.. The women .. his own nasty words about women.  It was unbelievable.  The division of people.. families, friends, the protestors and burning of business and then the capper.. the VIRUS.

So reading Michael Cohen’s book, I got to see that all the stories that I knew about… were true..  his book not only tell you about it.. but how it happen, who did what.. the background.  And why do I believe him?  Because he was there. He even was the helper, sometimes even the idea guy. And when they all came up with what to do to get their way.. he was the enforcer. He knew who to contract to make things work.  Or to stop people who were telling the truth. All of the dirty tricks of politic (because those of us over 60 know how dirty politic can be).  Trump talks about FAKE NEWS.. he is the inventor of Fake News…  and Cohen knew who to call to put in the fake news..  The lies that were told and published by their good friends especially in the rag called newspaper, THE ENQUIRER…  So many dirty lies.. And how cheap Trump was by not pay full price of anything.. and stiffing sub contractors as well as friends over different money deals..  It is all there in the book.  Again I think he told the truth, because why would he tell his part in all of this. That in his idolizing of Trump to be near him, to make money, to have the power to go on television and promote Trump. People coming to him for advice as well as the inside of things that they could use to work for Trump against his naysayers.  Why would he? Unless it is the truth.  I for one believe him…   I wonder how history will treat this 10 years later.. wish I could be around to read it.

The Garage Wall….

The Garage Wall….

Those of you who read my blog often, saw last August where I decided to make a mural out of the side of our garage…  When I was scrapping the old paint off so we could repaint it…. It just seems to be a shame to just do one color.

So after scrubbing and scrapping we painted the beginning. It was the sky, the mountains, the grass, and creek with pond.  Also a forest dept look out.

And this is what it looked like after we got done.

Jumping forward to 2020, I enlisted my granddaughter Lexi into helping me.. well to be honest.. She did it all..  she put in elk, deer, a cabin, and some rocks on the creek.. but then we ran out of time.   We had started late. Around the end of August as it had been too hot to paint before that. She did a great job.  It still has some to go.. but that will be next year.  There will be a couple more deer and several more elk and then finishing off the rocks near the creek…  So this is what we ended up with 2 weeks ago. Then it got cold and raining every other day…   THANK YOU LEXI…. I love it.

As time went by….

As time went by….

I was reading in the Sunday paper about radios… remember them?

And I thought how easier life was back then.  It isn’t just because it was 1940 something.. it was how we were inform of the daily world news, BUT we didn’t have video’s of it.. We relied on the reporter.. And in those days they were REPORTERS… not opinions.

We heard the horror of the blimp coming down back East and it burning as it went and the reporter telling everything he saw.   We would listen in seriousness of the reporter’s voice as he reported what his reporter in the field of Europe during the war, saw.

We also laughed and were even scared sometimes..  How many of you were in your beds at night, and hearing come from the living room … where your folks were listening to their shows…  NOBODY KNOWS BUT THE SHADOW….or as the door creeped open of the show called Inner Sanctum      and LIGHTS OUT…. The FBI files, and Edgar G. Robinson’s voice that scared you…  And then there was Fibber McGhee and Mollie, and Amos and Andy (who we did not know weren’t black for a long time) and of course Bob Hope… And of course the soap operas for the women during the day… There was the music where you could understand the words… And during war time hear I’LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.. and WHITE CHRISTMAS sang by Bing.  There was the Andrew Sisters and so many more..

Sadly our kids nor our grandchildren… and especially our great grandchildren.. will never know the peace of mind of those days.. Yes we worried about family members over there, fighting what was suppose to be the last big war.  But families worked hard together.  There was Victory Gardens..  save the metal for the government… And rationing of sugar, gas and etc.  While no one was thrilled about it.. there was not the rage of today, during that time.   Children were for the most part well behaved.. Knowing full well, if they screwed up, their parents would know about it before they got home.   Nothing the teacher said that would be as bad as when you got home and listen to your parents.. Respect, I guess..  not a lot of people have respect for others much anymore..

Then television came… it was in the house.. unlike the movies. And during the Vietnam war, we saw daily reports.. video reports from the killing fields.. While it brought us MR ROGERS,  and the rest.. it also brought us violence… world wide.. nation wide.. no longer did we just see our own little town.

Right now, in the town I live in.. and what is going on is nothing like all the big cities, Portland, Seattle, New York, and the rest of the riot areas… I almost feel like the days of 1940…. As long as I don’t turn on the television and see the moment to moment violence.   For that I am glad and blessed I live where I do.  Kind of like wearing blinders I guess…  But at my age of 80, I am glad to live this way.. and my heart goes out to all those who have to live in that horrible part of the UNITED (?) STATES OF AMERICA.

And so far in our town, your word does account for something.. truth is in the majority.. unlike the bigger cities…

So for all of those small towns like ours.. enjoy… share with your grandchildren and great grandchildren… I don’t know how long this will last.

The Hunters Widow….

The Hunters Widow….

Each year as the hunter bugles blow and the truck fly out the driveway at 0  hour before dawn,.. or maybe left the night before for      ELK CAMP…

There is the moans of women, who are left alone.  But in all fairness, there are those of us who greet it with the same venue we are in when our kids go back to school after the end of summer… visions of sitting on the porch with a party hat, noise maker and a large drink in our other hand, yelling WHOOPIE!!

I am that such Hunter Widow… See I treasure it like when my husband had                 to go to Boise for class, for a week in the summer thru the bus shop where he worked.    A whole week to do what I want… when I want…. Not have to stop mid day for lunch or another commitment. I have control of the REMOTE control… NO DEAD MAN CHANNEL!

So when the King left on Saturday, Sunday and Monday .. at before early dawn … (they have to get situated to where they want to start at dawn)

I strolled out about 7ish, in my pj’s.  I got the Sunday paper and slowly cruised thru it.. I visited You tube to watch my church video, because of the virus…And I was kind of sluggish. Not motivated. I glanced at Facebook…and then I saw where my daughter posted what I took as a challenge…  It was a picture of before and after she clean out her refrigerator. Knowing how bad mine was.. I decided to take up the non existing challenge.  As my refrigerator look like some one took a food cannon and shot it in to the refrigerator and doors.   After about an hour and half.. I had a full garbage bag full of old food, food stuff, that I had not used for years… and one such jar had what appeared to be tea bags in it..  I open it and it was mold.. and I could not tell you what was in the jar originally. As it had been deposited in the lowest shelf in the far right side… you know the never neverland of the refrigerator…  I washed all of the shelves, and the door shelves.. and put what I really needed. A few things I wanted.  And found out I had 8 jars of Litehouse Chunky Bleu Cheese dressing.  I took the pictures of before and after….. and posted them.. and challenged others.

And was answered 10 folds…

It was only 11:30am.. so I thought.. while I am on a roll, I will clean out my husband’s cabinet he has next to his chair…and a little bit next to his chair. After all ….he was gone… And the cabinet was broke anyway.  So I took another cabinet which was slightly smaller, put in place of the broke one, and put his stuff in there in order… All his foot lotions on one side…(he has diabetes so has to keep check on his feet)  All his sprays on the other side and slide his little box with what ever in it.. in the middle.. shut the door.  To a pile out on the floor…  I rearranged the pile next to his chair, and found a cat box, for lack of a better description…. It is round, had a place the cat can get in to  hid.. and a top to curl up on.. covered with carpet.  We have not own a cat for 4 years.  So clean that out.. found a stool, put the stuff on top of that.. with another pile of papers and stuff left over.  I even found his hunting knitted cap he couldn’t find… and I found his hand warmer thingie.

I went thru a good share and threw away old papers of nothings.  Phone numbers with no names.. magazine 4 years old and catalogs about the same. I took what I didn’t  know about and put them in a bag for him to go thru.

Waa la…. Another clean up mess….  What can I do now.. I am on a roll.

Oh, yea.. my summer clothes are still out..  so got my tote of winter and exchanged it..

And then I hear a familiar sound… the truck.. it had return with trailer and 4 wheeler.. DANG.. DRAT!!...  Ah, but there is the rest of this week and next week…

Note to self.. make list of to do for myself..  can’t waste this time..

And as of today….. ELK, days of hide and seek wins 5…… Elk Hunters 0…

Well, the first day was the long and short….. hunting....

Well, the first day was the long and short….

The day started out at about 4:15am… You know like a kid

who is waiting for Santa to show up … and can’t sleep?

That is the grown man style of it.

He has been ready by Friday…  buzzing from one end of the house to the other .. in and out of the garage.. to the store for supplies.. buying like a kid given a $100 budget for a road trip… There was fried chicken, some chips, AND a bag of small candy bars.. which he isn’t suppose to eat..  And when I called him on it.. he said it was for energy..  WHAT?  There are energy bars for that… not M&M, SNICKERS, MARS BARS AND ETC.. like I said like a 8 year old with a $100 budget… He had a backpack full..  and then he couldn’t find his knitted hat.. Looked from stem to stern… Then said probably in the back pack… So I asked him if he looked to see and his reply was..  OH NO,  I can’t do that.. too much stuff in there .. lol..

By Friday evening everything was packed in the back seat of the truck.

Everything but the gun.. He would take that out in the morning..

And then there was the short of it.. He was back at about 12:30pm.  Soaked to the till..  While it was not raining when he left.. it was raining up in the hills.  And long and short of it.. ONE…. there is now a gate where the country road they have used for years. Seems the summer people had abused the land and the land owner refuse to have anyone there… so a gate.. Talk about long faces…  Second, the both were soaked to the bone, so gave it up. Figured the Elk were finding dryer sections too.

BUT there is the next day… Sunday…. With sprinkles instead of sheets of rain.

The good news is .. it is fixable.

The good news is .. it is fixable.

Seems to be the going rate of late.. Which I feel very blessed.

First is the King… as those who read this mess called a blog know.. back in August, the King was in severe pain.  He went thru many things… Ultrasound, C-scan, and finally an MRI.  We found out one by one.. what it was not.. it was NOT kidney stones, it was NOT his prostate, it was NOT his pancreas. We were at the point, ok we know what it is not… so what the heck is it?  The MRI showed damage nerves on his spine in the disc area. Dics #12 I think they said.   So he was sent to physical therapy.. And the good news is… he is doing great. No more pain… except for the usual from age.  He hasn’t had to take anything for pain for over 4 days.  He is one happy camper.   Which has co-sided with ….  The part of the year where  our household comes to a stand still.. October…

HUNTING SEASON…. One his better days he has made a home made trailer for his 4 Wheeler and his buddies as well… He installed a wench on it as well.   So he can wench the elk on to the trailer.  So come Saturday, the elk horns will blow… and the race is on.

Also in the good news it is fixable .. is our truck .. which is needed for …. Hunting season.   Lol…   the little engine looking light came on.. after much ado and a computer diagnostics deal.. it showed that the EVAP canister was bad.. The King ordered the part. And it came in.. turns out to be something the King can fix himself.  After talking to the mechanic’s he found out exactly where it was.. (Google was of not help) .. So today, he

fixed it and all is well…  While the part cost $144.00… it beats taking it into the garage. Which by the way was 3 weeks out.. That is when the King decided to see if it was something he could do. And he did.

OH CRAP... I FORGOT...

I was finishing up dinner and then it hit me.. TODAY IS TUESDAY...

AND I had not posted my blog...

It has been one of those day.... I woke up late.. I was suppose to be at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles by 8 to get in line.   It was 20 to 8. I jumped out of the bed, threw on something.. grabbed my camera as I had to take a picture of a trailer that the King is building... to take with us.   We were going down to the DMV to get another plate for the smaller trailer we have, as the one was crunched so bad, it was hard to read. It had a 2 on the end of the sticker.. so figured it was expiring in 2022.  And the King could not find the registration for it.. The only one he found expired 2018!!   As it was, while we were waiting.. the King looks at me... and says,  "maybe you should have wore your hat"... I looked at him and said.. You didn't wake me up..  I had 15 minutes to dress, get your picture, fill out the paperwork on the picture.. and grab a cup of coffee to get here at 5 before 8 and you expect combed hair?

Well, long story short, We had NOT registered it in 2018 for up to 2022...  It was only for 2018 and the 2, I guess got scrunched over to the end..  So $31.00 later we had a new plate and paper work. And instructions on how to get the new one registered.

Had to take the new trailer to get weighed, sign papers and back to the DMV which surprisingly was easy to get in..  we were the next one up..  We were #4 this morning ..but that is because we got there a half hour early.. After hearing horror stories of 2 to 3 hour waits.. we were happy.

Also thru this agenda, was the truck engine light coming on.. this is not your usual one, but something for the emissions EVAP canister fault... After getting the correct part.. and then finding out where to put it, as it wasn't where the King thought it was... WA..LA.. all fixed and he is now ready...  Truck fixed.. trailers registered.   See the world comes to an end come Saturday as it does every October..

IT IS HUNTING SEASON... so all else comes to a screeching halt.
