What I knew to be true before 2015…

What I knew to be true before 2015…

I have just finished the book called Disloyal… by Michael Cohen.. who was Trump’s personal lawyer… Before and after the election.

He starts out the book with the sentence of disclaimer… “After or during reading this book, you will not like me”…  And he is pretty close to right. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him, it was more I was disgusted that a person would do the things he did.  All for power and greed on the lower level.. which he admits.  He also talks about being ashamed of what he did. How disgusted his wife and children were with him.  He apologizes a great deal to them.

Then he proceeds to tell us all, what and how he did and how he ended up in the web called Trump.  From the beginning when he did a small job for Trump and did it for free… which became a routine of Trump’s.  The end is when he went into disgraces of lowering himself to the point of not even recognizing himself..  And once he started .. became a target of Trump.

I have read several books about Trump, not the Woodward one tho.  I found John Bolton’s to be of great interest of how the White House politics works. I never saw the show called West Wing… maybe if I had, I wouldn’t be surprise at the back biting, and belittling of others there.  But I guess that is in any office across America… come to think of it.  But the book was more of a lesson in government.  It was of interest to me about Trump and how he handle Ukraine situation… as he was in the room during the conversation. I wasn’t expecting much..

I found the niece’s book more interesting. And it backed up my thoughts of the family behind Trump.  As I always thought Trump’s father was an ass. I read thru out the years, different magazine articles about Trump. Before the election.  Most of it was about the time he was doing his tv show. I didn’t like the show because he was arrogant and braggart. But she goes further in to the upbring of Trump and his siblings.  I guess in a way you can think of Sr. Trump as the culture of old Germany.  PreHilter. Where fathers were pretty rough on their sons… and not much better on their daughters.  And because he was such an ass, his oldest son became an alcoholic.  He as an adult to have a life of his own.. and he actually was doing pretty well, but the father made fun of him. Calling him a airplane taxi driver (he had his own flying company)  Worked hard to get inside the son’s head and destroyed him. Making him come back to the family.  And Trump was brought up as the Golden child by not only his father but his mother as well. But even he got the tongue lashings and put downs. Making Donald work harder to please his father. So found that book to be interesting.  Some of the other books were ok, but to me they really didn’t get to the core.

Before 2015 and the election, my knowledge of Trump was interesting and disgusting at the same time. I didn’t care for him to start off, because he would show up to different movie stars and some political parties with his first wife on his arm.. Always positioning himself to walk in front of the camera’s covering the event. Or come around in the background..  He was a name dropper.. I took him to be what I call a ‘WANT TO BE” That is someone who wants to be a member of the club (no matter what club) and does anything to be or try to show others he is.

Then there was the Apprentice… another blowhard, arrogant, name dropping show case.. but this time he is the star…

At about that time.. second year, I think.  Stories started to pop up.  Talks of his water company, his shirt company, his steak company… all went bankrupt.  Also how his N.J. casino was a bust.   (I also remember the stories of the dirty tricks he did to get that put in) .. Slowly stories were coming out of the woodwork.

Somewhere around there, was his first attempt for the elections.. but got mostly laughed out of it.  His desperate need to push Obama’s birth certificates lies.

But in late 2014 he got serious about the election.. he and about 17 others. We were all laughing. .  Then watched in horror as good men went to the way side.. and he won.    Even after all the stories of his bankruptcies, the manhandling of sub contractors and etc.. The women .. his own nasty words about women.  It was unbelievable.  The division of people.. families, friends, the protestors and burning of business and then the capper.. the VIRUS.

So reading Michael Cohen’s book, I got to see that all the stories that I knew about… were true..  his book not only tell you about it.. but how it happen, who did what.. the background.  And why do I believe him?  Because he was there. He even was the helper, sometimes even the idea guy. And when they all came up with what to do to get their way.. he was the enforcer. He knew who to contract to make things work.  Or to stop people who were telling the truth. All of the dirty tricks of politic (because those of us over 60 know how dirty politic can be).  Trump talks about FAKE NEWS.. he is the inventor of Fake News…  and Cohen knew who to call to put in the fake news..  The lies that were told and published by their good friends especially in the rag called newspaper, THE ENQUIRER…  So many dirty lies.. And how cheap Trump was by not pay full price of anything.. and stiffing sub contractors as well as friends over different money deals..  It is all there in the book.  Again I think he told the truth, because why would he tell his part in all of this. That in his idolizing of Trump to be near him, to make money, to have the power to go on television and promote Trump. People coming to him for advice as well as the inside of things that they could use to work for Trump against his naysayers.  Why would he? Unless it is the truth.  I for one believe him…   I wonder how history will treat this 10 years later.. wish I could be around to read it.
