Remember when we use to have these...
They rotated back and forth. And if you
were lucky they were quiet. If it was old,
then you had a click noise from the blades
hitting the protection screen.
How did we survive those days? I know
it was awful lot when it was summer, as
my bedroom was upstairs near the attic.
You could barely stand a sheet on you.
Yet we thought we had it made if we had
the fan up in our room.... because that wasn't
the case most of the time. I think mom and dad
had two.. a big one and a small one.
I say this as I sit next to our window AC. With
another one kicking in around 7 p.m. in the bedroom,
leaving our room 62 by the time we go to bed.

I went out this morning to water my plants after yesterday's scorcher. I guess Pacific Northwest plants aren't as tough as Texas plants. My vining geranium was covered in blossoms two days ago. This morning it was bare. Every petal had fallen off. It will have to recover and perhaps bloom again when the temps are back in the 80s.
Yes, I remember those old fans blowing hot air but at least it was moving air. I can feel those hot sheets now.
Remember the old water coolers that clogged up the salt shakers? I think we called them swamp coolers.
Hey we have those fans here LOL....
note to self *do NOT visit your part of the world in the middle of summer unless I want to melt*
