The King and I have never been
a big fan of going somewhere on
holidays. It just seems safer to stay
home. Of course the American
Automobile Association tells us the
count of how many died each holiday.
That doesn't do much for the travel people
either.
This coming weekend is Memorial Day
weekend. It has and had fond memories.
The first of which is us putting flowers on
the graves of those who have gone before
us. The second is the Memorial Day
parades.
Second, is the weekend has been used by
us as the first cookout of the year. Labor Day
being the last one. Over the years, friends and
family have been at our house, to enjoy the
first outside outing of the year. Now family
is moved away and friends have too. At least
the ones we use to cook out with. So it just
becomes a day to put flowers on the graves.
Third and most memorial to me, is the birth
of my sons 39 years ago. Twins. Oh, and
that is on the actual day itself. So they don't
always have their birthday on a day off.
So we look at the days to come this weekend..
and it will be just another weekend. As we usually
go out to the cemetery on the Friday before.
There doesn't seem to be the Memorial Day parades
anymore. Gas is getting to the point to forbidding
travel. This seems sad to me.
