Putting
the garden to bed for the winter.
It is that
time of the year...
Frost is on
the horizon and we know that
the rest of
the garden will fall.
Actually mine
already fell a few weeks back when
we had an
overnight frost.. just one night but it
did it's job.
We harvest what we had left.
I had two
tomato plants I babied, trying to get the
tomatoes to
redden up.. Finally gave up on it. And
I picked them
all, put them in boxes to ripen if they will.
Next year we
are going to try a new way of gardening. We
will keep our
raised beds. But I shoved out last week,
about 4
inches of the old dirt. I laid down newspaper and
laid compost
about 3 inches thick on top of that. Next will
be wood
chips. But need to find the right kind of wood.
Cedar and
Alder are a no no...
Looking
forward to this new type.. as it is suppose to
be less
watering.. and also plants (vegetables) are
suppose to
come out cleaner. And they say..no weeds,
but that
remains to be seen. So have it almost set
up and then
let the winter have the garden…and see
what results
we have next year.
These tomatoes look more like Halloween candy...
