Coverage for unwanted services

I posted on the deal about how so many of the few who try to band things of
the many..
And the latest is the church screaming about Obama saying about health insurance. And those who are joining the choir. Now if I understand right.. this does not have a ruling that all people HAVE to take advantage of the conceptive program. If I understood it right.. it was that the insurance company had to pay for, in their pharmacy program, for the conceptive. If that person who pays for that insurance WANTS to use them. No one is MAKING them use it. And I guess the rest are on the same band wagon because they don’t want to have THEIR insurance company to have it, because they have to pay extra for their insurance IF they have such a coverage in their policy. No one is making any one take the pill…it is coverage for those who don’t want to have another dependent in the house.

One thing I wonder, can you have it so you don’t have that coverage, or is it like all health insurance (you have more options with vehicle policies..like full coverage or just for the other guy) and if they don’t.. I guess I can kind of understand. But there is a lot on those policies that is covered, that the rest of us don’t use, but pay for. Like Viragra, also I am way past the age of pregnancies and etc. But they are only looking at one business.

How many of you who have television thru cable or satellite? How many of you get to pick and chose the stations you want on your service. Yes, you can get a movie or sports package.. but for the most part.. how many of you pay for channels that you have no desire to ever watch? I have 150 channels on my service. Of which there are probably 50 (that is probably stretching it) that we would watch at some time or the other… And only about 30 that we would watch on a regular basis. Yet we are paying for all of them.. All those sports channels that we don’t watch, all those church channels that we have no desire to watch (I have my own church) and all those dang selling channels. I think we should get a discount for each channel that is a selling channel.

So those of you protesting the insurance company coverage of conceptives because you don’t want to have to pay for the coverage, that you aren’t using.. just remember your television package.. And how many other things out there we pay for, that we don’t use, have no desire to use, even though we have to pay for it, just to get what we do want.

Enter at your own risk....

For those of you with computers (I have friends who I do a print out too) …
and Facebook. Who have gotten addictive to Facebook and some of the attachments..
Here is a fairly new one. Pinterest.

It is the newest fad, or whatever you want to call it. I saw on TV
where this woman admitted to looking thru it for 2 hours. She said,
I hate to admit it, but yes, I have spend two hours looking thru it..
The story on the television was about this site and how the hobby stores
are running out of things on their shelves.. and wondered what was
hitting them.. When they finally asked the customers, they all admitted
sheepishly to looking at pinterest.com

You see there is all kinds of things there. There are recipes, house
remodeling, all kinds of crafts… styles of clothes, cute signs, and cute
pictures of animals.
If you get to know it well, you can join them, and pin things there
yourself.. set up an account with all the things you found interesting
on the site. And your friends can go there and see what you like and
share them with everyone.

So enter it at your own risk…

Wasted Weekend

As most of you know who live here in the Northwest, and in
Eastern Washington state and Northern Idaho, we got snow.
Now we have been pretty lucky this winter.. People with new
snowblowers are frustrated, as they have gotten little use out
of there new machines.

Well, this weekend made up for it.. and here are some pictures..
Not much to write about, as you can see. The King was either
Snowblowing, plowing or kicking back with the dog.

I hear it should all be gone by Wednesday but there might be
a follow up next weekend.. maybe this is the “In like a Lion and out
like a lamb” March we always heard of, but rarely seen, as we get snow
until April.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so without
further ado…

My Husand is in hog heaven....

Well, we broke down and decided to get satellite again. We have been
Doing, for free, antenna.. but lately the reception has been poor.. and very frustrating for the King. We were getting 11 channels without problems until
about a month ago.. Then we lost two channels.. the ABC AND NBC.. it was
spotty at best. And then he couldn’t take it anymore, as we lost them completely
over the weekend.. and he missed two of his shows.. Please call DIRECT TV,
was his plead…

So we called and Thursday they came out. He wasn’t home more than
4 minutes when he asked about the remote.. so I educated him to off and on,
and up and down the channels, and where the volume was… rest he could punch in the channels.. And off he went at the man sport, flipping thru the channels.. with oh, ooo’s, oh, boy.. as he saw some old familiar channels.

Then he asked.. where is the outdoor channel.. I told him give me a few minutes as I was typing up a list of channels that I knew he would want.. and rather than answer millions of questions that start with… what channel is….xxxx on? I gave him the list… I googled Direct tv and fishing and hunting… as there wasn’t Outdoor Life listed.. and there it was.. Pursuit Channel… he is in his glory.. hog
Heaven…He is watching them plant grass just for the deer. (isn’t that entrapment?) and saying wow, those Southern sure know how to take good care of their wild game… guess I will be watching television in the bedroom. ;-(

Oh, yea, he came home with a rose for me… knew I felt bad about what
happen on Wednesday, and wanted me to feel better.. Yep, ladies, that is why
I love the KING…

My Finest Hour.... NOT!!!!!!!

Ok, so it wasn’t my finest hour… but…. oh, heck there is no but.
You women will guess real quick what I did… as I start to tell you.

I have a George Forman grill.. It is the large one and I was lucky
to get it from a yard sale 2 years ago for $5.00…I use it a lot.
Last week we had guest and I was going to be using the stove top,
where I usually keep my George Forman grill.
But I took it and placed it inside the oven.
Now, I never ever put any pan in the oven.. just never been one to do
that.. not even to hide it from unexpected guest. But this time I did.
Now this is where the women will figure it out.

I got one of those new coffee brewer today. You know the one called Keurig,
And it makes one cup at a time. Also you can do tea, and hot chocolate and etc.
I was busy reading the directions.. and you knowm if you have read past post,
I am not good at doing that first…but figured I better this time.

Well, the King came home, so I am explaining what I am doing, and
I walked over to the oven to get it preheated, so I could cook dinner.
(Now even the men should have a clue) … so I hit the bake and 400.

I walk away, and reading.. then went into the other room to get something,
When I heard the King yell out and cussing like a trooper.. he has the
stove door open and the kitchen door open and carrying something out.
But as soon as I rounded the corner, I knew… what I had done.

Nope, not my finest hour… it is all the directions fault.. if I wasn’t reading
directions, I would have been paying attention.. Oh, heck no, I was stupid..
Or as I told my children.. it wasn’t stupid, I just made a bad choice.. ha.ha.
BOY DID I. I could try to explain, that I never ever put anything in the oven
But stupid is as stupid does.

But I think I might have a charm life.. because after it cooled off.. I notice it
was only the plug that was burnt/melted.. So it looks like to me.. like I can cut
off the plug and put a new one on.. and it should be good to go.. but the King
said, only if the wires didn’t burn backwards.. but still it looks like it will be good.

Nope, not my finest hour for sure.

Life is good....

For the past year or so, I have had a small health issue…
I have had low platelets.. for those who don’t know what
that is..(I had to ask too) it is what is in your blood that
helps your blood clot. The usual is 150,000 to 400,000.
Mine last year was 42,000 and then the every 3 months show
the 30,000’s…

I had to go in for different test, for liver and etc. to see if it was
eating up my platelets. And then the horrible bone marrow test.
(it is only like a heavy bee sting.. they said… THEY LIED)
All the test came back great.. no problems.. My white blood cell
count was super great… so was the red cells. AND I felt great.

The only reason why I even found out I had a problem was because
my doctor is getting ready to retire. He was cutting his hours and days.
So being I had not been there for 5 years, I decided to get a check up
before he retired completely. And everything was wonderfully great.
EXCEPT my platelets.. which was checked a couple of more times, and
then he sent me to a blood specialist.

This was all very hard for me to understand because I FELT GREAT..
Couple of small aging issues but nothing of any concern.. So why?
I looked at my past test for the past 20 years.. and guess what!
All the things they did in the blood test.. platelets was not one of them.
You would think that would be a big issue. But I guess not.
I did remember giving blood about 15 years ago, and the 3rd time
in the year, they had to throw it away (why don’t they give it back
to the donor?) because of low platelets. But nothing about being
really low. So I blew it off.

Well, today, I was thrill to find out mine was up to 46,000. Still low
mind you, but up. And I STILL FEEL GREAT… The best they can
come up with is, maybe I just run low. My blood clots very well, when
I get a cut.. and my bruising is consistence to a 71 year old. The rest
Of the blood test came back excellent…..So all is good.
LIFE IS GREAT!!

Some lives....

I think I have an ok, life.. I have simple needs, so life is good.
I have a roof over my head.. and it is paid for.. I have all the
food I need. I have a car that takes me from point A to point B.
My husband has a good job… I like my house, and my life.

But I found out, that I guess I am pretty boring…
I got in the email, from my old high school, a questionnaire.
It has the usual general stuff.. where you live, how many children
Do you have, grandchildren.. and great grandchildren.. (remember
I am old by some standards).

It also asked about what kind of job, which I put in retired RCNA.
For those who don’t know me well. That is
Registered Certified Nurses Aide…known to others as a fancy
name for bedpan handlers.. Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of
the work I did.

But on a questionnaire, it doesn’t look like much.. especially when it
has what clubs you belong to, (none) what higher education you went
to, (tech class at the local North Idaho College) but that doesn’t stack
up well either.

And then the kicker… what in your life would you like others to know about.
Well, I had a smarty answer but they don’t allow that many spaces for it.
Guess one has to have something simple to write.. So I put in, live life to the fullest.

Guess over all I am boring.. and they don’t have a room for the school of
hard knocks.. or the unusual jobs (I smashed cars for scrap iron with my
husband) and some of the other stuff.. which I wouldn’t have written about anyway.

But you know… I don’t mind.. as my life works out just fine for me.
I happen to like how it has turned out. And all the past is what
made the now of me and the future of me..
And that works out well, and life is good.

Playing with Matches..

I am not crafty.. meaning I don’t do crafts well… so therefore I chose
not to do them at all… most of the time.

But I also hate waste… so when I am burning my candles (at one end)
and all that hot wax, just seems to go at waste…
So in my delayed wisdom, I decided to save that hot wax in containers.
that part went well.

But one of the things I have found, as I am lighting the candles of my
choice…is my matches. I usually have the long matches.. as seen in picture.
but if it is a small jar, which I get from time to time (so I can try out the scent)
I use what I THOUGHT was safety matches. You know, you have used them
over the years… if you had a wood stove, or had to light the gas stove when
the pilot light didn’t work and etc.

As you can see from the picture.. they are Diamond matches.. long time
product of which one has faith in.. But what you don’t see is important.
As I found out. I have use them to light the small candles and each time,
the flame goes up the stick. I mean it goes up the stick fast. And you don’t
want to throw it and catch the house on fire… So you end up blowing on it
fast and furious. To get it out before you have toasty fingers. After the 3rd
match, I am getting upset.. as I use to use these type, this brand.. and they
were called SAFETY matches.. that meant, slow burning match. Slow burning
so you could light a candle (in the old days cigarettes) with out burning
your fingers and cussing..

So I look at the box.. and there is nothing at all about SAFETY MATCH.
When did Diamond stop making safety matches? Or is there two different
kinds of Diamond Matches? The curious thing is.. the long matches do
say safety match..but we are talking about maybe 5 seconds longer than
the short match.. so much for safety…

I will tell you later how the candle making comes out.. I have a lot of
candles to burn before I can do some experimenting. Hopefully it
won’t be in the local paper how the elderly woman burnt down the house
playing with matches.

Who wins this week?

When I was a teen, there was a friend of the family who was an
exercise jockey at the state race track. And I can remember him
telling my folks about how foolish it was to bet on the horses, especially
during the week.

It seems that they were rigged. He said who ever was behind in their
stable bills the most, would be the winner of the race. As they would
be such long shots, no one would bet on them, and therefore, the money
made with the bets, would pay for the winner, who then could pay their
stable fees. Which kept the race track going.

It seems almost like this could be true of our candidates. With Newt winning
in South Carolina, one week.. and then Mitt winning in Florida the next week.
And Santorum winning big last week… So shouldn’t this be Ron Paul’s turn?
That way they all get to have money coming in. After all if your candidate isn’t
doing well, the campaign money stops flowing.. that is what happen to Newt,
the weeks before he won in South Carolina.

Do brothers ever get tired of tormenting each other?

My husband is one of 4 brothers. Constantly pulling pranks,
telling stories that are lies to get their brothers to believe them
and laugh when they do. Anything for a rise out of him. One is
just as bad as the other.

My father pulled a good one on his brother. They were in their 50’s
My uncle stopped by on Thanksgiving afternoon. I came home from
a rival school football game where my high school beat the other team
by 32 to 0. During this short visit, I had kissed my uncle hello. Well,
his wife calls about an hour later and asked my father if he had seen
his brother. Of which my father told her, no, he had not seen him for
days… then called back 30 minutes later. Told her he had been there.
But this is after his wife gave him the 3rd degree about where he was
and why was there lipstick on him. Of course, my father hung up
laughing his head off.

Also at the age of 82, my father snuck behind my uncle, while
my uncle and I were talking.. and tickled behind his knee. Where
my uncle jumped because he thought it was a bug of some kind.
Which my father stood there, in a fit of laughter. And my uncle
was just about as bad. But I will have to admit,
I think my father got,the best of his kid brother

A Valentine to my husband.. the King of my Heart...

To the guy who makes every day Valentines Day…
Who is my calm, when I am in a storm of life.
Who stands by me, even when I am ranting and raving
about something in life..
Who makes me so proud of what you have accomplished,
especially in this past year.
Whose brown eyes sparkle like diamonds and smile so big,
as you pull some little prank on me..
And when I lean against you at church and hear your voice
sing the praises, it warms my heart to know.. you chose me
to be your wife.

So here are your words you said so wonderfully on the day
we got married almost 13 years ago…

Sometimes in the morning when shadows are running deep..
I lie here beside you and just watching you sleep..
Sometimes I whisper what I am thinking of..
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH LOVE.

Sometimes in the evening..when you do not see..
I study the small things you do constantly.
I memorize moments that I am fond of…
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH LOVE.

In only a moment we both will be old,
We won’t even notice the world turning cold.
So in this moment with sunlight above…
MY CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH LOVE.

My guy who I so dearly love.. YOU MAKE MY HEART
AND CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH LOVE..

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY…

I don’t know who wrote this.. the King got the words off of All My Children,
That Stuart sang to Marion when they got married.. and he thought he would do it at ours… When I googled it.. there were many who sang it.. but couldn’t find who wrote it.. One place which I don’t know if it can be trusted Wikipedia said that Tom Jones wrote it for a Broadway play..

I told you it was politics 101

I don't know who Charlie Reese is.. guess I live under a rock.. only know he was a columnist because this says he was.
This email came to me over the weekend.. it had a tax poem which I had seen before, but
this is the first time I have read about the Congress part..
And those of you, who know me well.. I have told you this... over and over and over.. I called it Politic 101...
I even wrote about it in my blog years ago... where I don't have a lot of thought of the President, (no matter which one you talk about) because the President doesn't hold the power... so much.. but Congress does..
As I have told you over and over.. President sends something to Congress.. Congress decides.. if they like it or not.
They send it forward if they do... if they don't.. they send it to committee.. and committee it to death.. until it is throw to the floor.. or if they hate the President, they send it to the floor anyway.. until they will get blame for it, so then they will committee it... and then it is dead...

Now Congress has and can... make up anything they like.. then vote on it.. and if they get enough fools to vote for it.. it goes to the President... Now he can sign it..if he likes it ...OR he can veto it.. but that does not kill it.. because it goes BACK TO CONGRESS.. they get 66 2/3
of their fellow mates... to OVER RIDE THE VETO.. and you and I live with the disaster they came up with..
That is politics 101....

But this man put it even better than I did... so read it.. and all I can say is...
1. I TOLD YOU SO.... 2.. YES, YES, someone sees it as I see it... so read below...
Cis

CHARLIE REESE'S FINAL COLUMN A GREAT READ!!!!!
A very interesting column.. COMPLETELY NEUTRALBe sure to Read the Poem at the end.Charley Reese's final column for the Orlando Sentinel...He has been a journalist for 49 years. He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.
This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It's a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!
545 vs. 300,000,000 People-By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ...
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
What you do with this article now that you have read it... is up to you.

I might now know who you are Charlie... but GOD BLESS you for COMMON SENSE..

The CHOICE IS YOURS!!!...

Condoms, Roe &Wade… Dr. offering at the end of life, options.. now called by the radicals.. the Death of Grand ma… ????? I don’t get why so many are so upset about it.
After all…NO ONE IS MAKING YOU DO THESE THINGS!.

If you want to use condoms.. you have that option.. but you also have the option NOT to use them.. so don’t buy them from the dispenser. By the way the use of or not use of condom
DOES NOT prevent sex happening.

Same thing if the Dr. offers end of life choices… NO ONE IS FORCED to have the doctor give you these options… YOU HAVE TO ASK… for them..

And Roe&Wade… it is the law… but again.. no one took the woman by the hand and forced her into the doctors office to have an abortion. Myself, I have
come to the point where I don’t agree with abortion as a whole… It is not my personal choice.. (must not be, as I have 8 children)… but in case of rape, incest,
I believe, if the woman can not handled mentally having that child.. she should have the OPTION (not 12 weeks later) … and I defend that option. I can say I wouldn’t.. but having never been in those shoes… who is to say what one goes thru under those terms. And what choices one makes. Again, YOU CHOSE, no one is making your decide.

Why do we let the small amount of noisy groups rule the rest of us? Why aren’t we standing up for ourselves.. in our choices.

Just like the statute in Montana, of Jesus. There is a group of atheist who are suing to have it removed. The statute has been there how many years? No one
was bothered before… If the Atheist are offended by it… what is the saying that Ray Stevens had in his song? DON’T LOOK ETHEL… Well, don’t look ATHEIST.

And where do they get the right to tell the rest of us. Because they are offended?
Well I am, like so many others, are offended by them and their beliefs.. but we aren’t going to court and telling them they have to believe in God or Jesus… we let them believe what they want and go on our merry way.. Why do we bow to these people who are pushing their beliefs on us? Where is our back bone???
We aren’t taking their choices away… they have the choice not to look, not to pray, not to say the pledge alliance, to not do what ever we do.. but they are forcing us … not to have choices…
Why do the courts protect them, and not us?

If it is the silent majority then I think we better stand up and be noisy. Before we become sheep, and have no rights of choices.

Horses racing of old.. where the one horse who owed the biggest bill won.. to get them out of the debt.

Sticks to you like glue....

You see someone sent it to me as an email.. and I played it.
Patsy Cline is one of my favorite singers, but this is a
parody of her.... SHE HAS YOU…

I got that email. At least a week ago.. maybe more…
Yet here I am day after day.. catching my self humming
the tune, and singing some of the words… with out even
having it in my mind.. well, I didn’t think I did, but I guess
it must be stuck somewhere back there, with the needle
stuck on the first part of the song…

You ever have that happen to you? Well, I wish I could have
it play for you as you read this..... because I want to pass
this song on to you, so hopefully I will stop singing and humming
it.

Here are some of the words...

I've got your picture that you gave to me
And it's signed with love just like it used to be
The only thing different, the only thing new
I've got your picture, she's got you

I've got the records that we used to share
And they still sound the same as when you were here
The only thing different, the only thing new
I've got the records, she's got you

I've got your memory, or, has it got me?
I really don't know but I know it won't let me be
I've got your class ring that proved you cared
And it still looks the same as when you gave it, dear
The only thing different, the only thing new
I've got these little things, she's got you

are you singing it...??? sure hope so... lol

Splitting of the States..

I wonder how many states we would have if we split all those who
are fed up with how the state capital area’s treat the rest of the state.

I know there was a time in the 1950’s when those in Newport wanted to have the capital back in Newport.. (it is in Providence now). It seems they thought that the upper part of the state got all the good stuff, and Aquickneck county/Newport got the shaft .

When I lived in San Diego, they too were fed up with Sacramento, and how the upper part of the state got nothing.. But they didn’t want to share with LA either. So …so much for South California and North California.

Then there is the state I live in now.. We are constantly complaining how Boise gets the good road (and they do have beautiful roads down there) and we get the goat trails. They are now trying to straighten out some of the many curves from Moscow. Idaho to the Canadian border. There was even talk when I first got here in 1982, of how they wanted to have the Empire State from Helena Montana to Spokane Washington, taking in the Northern Idaho.

I wonder if there are other states that think they are getting the bottom of the barrel, and would they like to split their states capital area… and if they did, just how many states would we have?

Being Connected...not..

Why do offices.. be it doctors, dentist, or any other
business get upset if you don’t have a cell phone?

When I retired, I made a conscience decision to end my cell phone. Part of it was
I was downsizing.. but that was 20% of it, as I saved us $30 a month for a second
phone service. . The other is.. I guess I felt I didn’t need it when I kept leaving it
on the dining room table. I am just not a “got to be connected” person.

I have managed over the years, of before cell phone, to be where I needed to be..
was informed of what people wanted me to know. I never ever thought at the time,
I wish I had know that sooner. I have gone thru births, deaths, appt. and other
things one is notified about, and never wished I had a way to be gotten a hold of
sooner. Even after I was a cell phone owner, there was never a time, when I thought..
oh, thank God, I had a cell phone for them to get a hold of me in the nick of time.

But we have become an instant contact society. They ask you for your phone
number at different office desk. And when you give them a home phone, they
will follow up with “and your cell phone?”. And when I say I don’t have one..
they look at me.. and then kind of throw me in to the “too old to understand
modern electronics” group. Which is kind of true.. but cell phones isn’t one of them.

I do have and rely on an answering machine in our house. That is one that is a keeper…
Because if I am not home, they can leave a message if it is important.
When I was working.. I did put caller id on our phone. It was a safety value. As
my job thought nothing of calling me back to work on days off, or even double back
shifts. And after not having the will power to say no and doing 30 hours of overtime
in 2 weeks,
I got caller id, and I could chose to answer or not.. Even tho I am retired.. we still
have it to get rid of callers from politicians and etc.

So I have chose not to be connected 24/7. And I don’t carry the phone to the
bathroom.. they can wait.. leave a message… I will call back.
Now my husband.. that is another story.. his cell phone is his umbilical cord.
If he gave his up, he would go thru withdrawals bad. Can’t say it is a man thing,
as I see a LOT of women with phones hanging on their ears all the time.
And that is another peeve… women who will look at you…talking.. where you
think it is you, and all the time it some one on the phone she is talking to.
I have quit talking topeople who have them and talking.

Super Bowl

I am not a huge football fan… but I do like to watch the game.
And I usually do make a choice to watch the Super Bowl.
I have talked about how I am not really one to have in the
living room watching, as when it gets exciting.. I am the kind
who is standing up as the guy is running down the field,
to make a touchdown… yelling RUN, RUN, RUN YOU SON
OF…… (you know the word) RUN…

Super Bowl I watch like most of American, who does watch
it… for the game and the ads. The game depends on not who
is playing, but what the score is.. If it is 42 to 6, then I lose
interest… If it is close then I am there, to the end usually.

Yesterday’s game, I did not have a horse in the race so to speak.
While I am from New England, you would think I would have
been rooting for the Pat’s. But either could have won and I was
ok with it. But yesterday, it was a close game.. and it was almost
boring.. There didn’t seem to be any of the big plays. They both
played well, although, I am sure the Pat’s are getting a lot of
remarks about how they couldn’t hang on to the ball. And the
Giants did… and then there was that play near the end..where
the player, who instead of running across the goal line, decided
to stop, turn and roll backwards over the goal line. Almost a rub it in
the Pat’s faces… as he surely had to know this was the goal that won the game.

The Half game show, usually leaves me wanting something better.
I don’t know if it is the age (mine) or what, but yesterday was with Madonna
and I felt it was boring. If it wasn’t for the fireworks and dancers it would have
been flat. I am sure that the Madonna fans would be disgusted with me..
But I am sorry, she is no Tina Turner.. It is a matter of showmanship.. to me..

I thought Kelly Clark did a bang up job on the Anthem, which is far from a easy
song… although I did see a 7 year old on You tube do a great job on it.

And then the ads. My favorite was Grandma and the baby, Dorita ad. I like
the Dannon one with John Stamos. The rest were ok.. Not bad, just ok..
I don’t know if it was one of the times I was in the kitchen and didn’t see it,
but where were the Clydesdale horses ad.
I am sure those who are younger thought it was great.
And maybe the past ads were kind of shocking and new..
and we got use to that, so expect more?

So this year the Super Bowl got a C+ from me.

Political Money

Why is it that every time I hear the complain about class warfares, it is the
rich who are doing the screaming? I haven’t heard a poor or medium wage
person use the word, or complain about it.

With this, in your face Super Pack, (it was hidden before) who are drumming up
and actually getting 10 million dollars and up… for the politicians.. who are the
same ones who don’t want to be taxed more, so to share the wealth. They feel
that everyone should get out and work and earn their own money.. yet they
give freely, to the biggest welfare bums there are…politicians.

I would say, that all this money raising is for the best President Candidate that money can buy…but I think it is better with the best Republican candidate that money can buy. I can remember being horrified 12 years ago when George jr
went into Iowa with 60 millions of daddy’s pals money… and thinking then, the President office is for sale.. And I have doubts it is the best, that they are buying,
as they don’t seem to be too choosy about who they are putting their money
behind..

And no, I am not giving the Democrat a pass… they just aren’t in the news right
now. Kind of sad that they don’t even have anyone interested in challenging
Obama… especially when some Democrats profess that they aren’t happy
With Obama. Me thinks, that the Democrats protest too much.

I would love to see after the conventions, that the Federal government take 80%
of the campaign funding away from the candidates and spend it on repairing
all of the roads in the US. Or use it for free college education, being high school
isn’t good enough anymore. Heck with the money these two parties are throwing
around, we might be able to afford both.

The Strings can be still pulled....

I was watching Good Morning America this morning with the interview of
Lisa Marie Presley. And was surprised at how the emotional strings can
still be there after all these years… I guess we are heading in to the
25th Anniversary of his death..

I wasn’t a big fan of his music.. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t hate it. I
danced as much as the next one to his songs.. but at the same time
as Elvis arrived on the Dorsey summer television show… I saw another artist who was feature a few weeks later… and that is where my fanship laid.
Johnny Cash…

The amazing thing about Elvis was, my parents hated his music. My mother watched Love Me Tender movie on television and made fun of his singing,
every time he open his mouth in the movie. She said she couldn’t understand
why girls went so wild and screaming over him and his hip wiggles… (I guess
she forgot her generation of Frank Sinatra) And I wasn’t living at home during the Beatles on Ed Sullivan show which was her favorite. Yet, several years later,
I witness her loving his singing when he did a kind of comeback show on television. The one with him in his black leather outfit. And she taped it. I
think my brother might still have the tape. My how times change.
It also was a bone of contention between us as I loved Country Western music.
Ernest Tubb, Ray Price and etc… Of which she described as howling, and
would not allow their records in our house. But years later in her 60’s she
LOVED Willie Nelson.. making remarks about him putting his shoes under
her bed any time.. My how times changed…

While I danced to Elvis rock songs, my favorites were his bass sounding."In the. Ghetto".
And I loved his Christian songs…like "I Believe".

But this morning, as Lisa Marie was showing her part of his history at his
house, (her rocking chair, her tricycle and etc.) and they played Fools fall in
Love… and there it was.. the tugging of the heart strings… and wondering
what if….
